Full Headline: Netanyahu's reign is over for now. He leaves behind a wealthier, more divided Israel and a stalled peace process

Jerusalem (CNN)He's been dubbed King Bibi, the magician, the great survivor, and has held records as both the youngest and longest-serving prime minister of Israel.

But on Sunday, June 13, Benjamin Netanyahu was forced out as prime minister after a record 12-year consecutive term, his second in office.

To his supporters, he's the tireless protector of modern-day Israel who helped turn the small nation into an economic powerhouse with outsized influence on the world stage. To his critics, he's a divider who helped destroy the country's democratic institutions while enabling the rise of extremists.

Without question, Netanyahu has left an indelible mark on Israel, changing and molding its path. And though he may be leaving the highest office for now, his influence is far from over.

2. "Despite his years of dominance, Netanyahu rarely garnered a huge amount of Israeli popular support"

Good riddance...next stop Ramleh Prison.

3. He reflects a world going through a dangerously RW authoritarian mood.

He's gone, but nationalist and nativist hostilities are still rampant, governments dangerously destabilized by insurgent extremists, and open, bigoted hostility sparked by almost anything a shame-less norm, even here.

The best I hope for in the short term is that Israel will be able to hold and come through until better times make real advances achievable, while hurting fewer people and doing a lot of the national housekeeping that all agree has been badly neglected.

4. The irony is that had his party were willing to replace him at the top

it would have formed a government, perhaps even with Bennett - the current prime minister - as the leader. But many just had it enough with Netanyahu as a person, not necessarily with his policies.

And he refused to accept the new reality.

Perhaps it is time for him to stop looking at Whinny Donny as someone to follow.

5. It's going to be interesting to see how this new government manages.

It's a coalition of parties from the left to the right including an Arab party with the only thing in common that they don't like Bibi. Aside from that they seem to disagree and pretty much everything else.

Maybe the pragmatism that brought the coalition together will allow them to find a way to govern the country

14. One interesting thing for internal governing

is this is the first government without an Orthodox Jewish party in almost a decade. There are a lot of reforms that most Israeli's want that the O parties have vetoed, and this coalition might support (including O in draft, allow for non-religious marriages, etc.).

As for the Palestinian question, the coalition as agreed to no new settlements / expansions unless brought to a vote by the full Knesset (which would probably not approve), so that's a big one already.

17. Absolutely

We'll not survive another Trump term. We have to keep him from returning to power three years hence, and then we have to dive into all 50 state capitals, because that's the way Republicultists have gained and maintained power that they never should've gotten in the 1st place!
