Obama Is Flooding Wisconsin Radio With This Brutal Ad On Romney's '47%'

Source: Business Insider

This radio ad provides a glimpse into how the Obama campaign is localizing its efforts to attack Mitt Romney's controversial comments on the "47 percent," breaking down who makes up the group in Wisconsin.

I heard the ad for the first time shortly after I landed in Wisconsin on Thursday, and I decided to count. I heard it 22 more times from Thursday through Saturday across a wide variety of platforms on both AM and FM radio, though I did a fair amount of driving on each of the three days I was in the Badger State.

Needless to say, people are taking notice in the state. Michal Lattomus, a self-described Republican who lives in Paul Ryan's neighborhood in Janesville, Wis., said the comments were "the single stupidest thing a presidential nominee could have done." She called the ad, which she said she had heard a fair amount of times, a natural, effective response from the Obama campaign.

The Obama campaign's Wisconsin office provided us with the audio for the ad. Take a listen:

Normally, I listen to 88.9, a non-com music station in Milwaukee, but earlier this week, feeling the desire to listen to something other than a pledge drive turned outright filibuster, I turned on Lake FM, the local "we play everything" station. In the span of less than an hour, I heard that ad three times. Obviously, the Obama campaign is buying tons of ad time for this blistering and effective ad.

(WISN is Milwaukee's Rush Limbaugh affiliate. WTMJ actually has drive-time news shows but has local right wing talk in between.)

Wisconsin has only TWO progressive talk stations: 92.1 the Mic in Madison and 1230 the Voice in Wausau. WCPT 820 out of Chicago may be audible in Milwaukee. 92.1 the Mic is simulcast only on HD Radio in Milwaukee.

Those two babbling geezers are hardcore wingnuts.

And WCPT is pretty audible in Milwaukee during the day. Ed Schultz is also on an AM station in Racine.

Drive time news with Big Eddie, Michael Smerconish (a moderate talker and guest host of MSNBC's Hardball), Leslie Marshall, and Alan Colmes all day? Cool! I wonder if Racine is a liberal city, given that it's in PAUL RYAN's district.

Ed's been on the station for years. Same with Colmes. But they always mixed it up with a few wingerd (i.e. Bill O'Reilly). Sounds like they're really counter-programming the other stations. Good for them.

BTW, that's WRJN 1400AM in Racine, WI.

As for Ryan's district, it's pretty purple. Went for Obama in '08. That's why the DNC is spending money on Rob Zerban in that race.

But in Oklahoma, internet's the only way to hear it. I would love to hear that roll out one afternoon here. I'm in Tulsa, so it would have a small, but devoted and lonely audience. But it might reach some of the lower middle class workers and professionals who populate some if the older suburbs and towns round here.

I realize you're enjoying being Eeyore here, and setting up an situation where either you're thrilled Obama won, or are thrilled you get to say "I told you so". But it really does nothing but poison our environment.

Obama's polling at +6 in Wisconsin. If you think Walker can steal that, you should go buy lottery tickets. You have more chance of winning.

Obama has been polling very, very well, and I think Walkermania has faded a bit. Some interesting house races too, in addition to the Senate race (that Tammy Baldwin is surprisingly leading). It'll be close, but I believe Obama will pull through.

your comment. You are suggesting two things. One, the good peeps of WI can be bought by playing the same lies over and over again. Second, you are suggesting the good peeps of WI are stupid. Let's say the ads are focused on the economy and jobs. Smart peeps know that the GOPKKKer's in the house refused to bring the AJA to the floor. They Mittnocchio will repeal OBAMACare, overturn Roe v. Wade, DOMA, the Voting and Civil Rights Acts and overturn PBO's executive action regadring undocumented children. Mittnocchio has also said he opposes the DREAM ACT. While there may be a significant number of stupid peeps in WI, there are not enough to give the state to mittnocchio.

There are a lot of people in this state that listen to faux news because they don't know that it is not a real news station. And, because rightwingnuttiness is taught in the (mostly Southern Baptist and evangelical) churches. But if they could hear a consistent message from the other side (OUR side) it might begin to help them understand that faux snooze isn't news, and they're being hoodwinked. Because if there is one thing southerners don't like at all, it's finding out they've been hoodwinked.

If the democrats would put their money toward a consistent message for our side, and make it clear and piss off people that have been brainwashed, I'd donate to the main party instead of just the single candidates.

have hurt many a close race...witness the campaign of Sebelius vs Tim Shallenburger

As state GOP chairman in 2002, Parkinson worked to defeat Sebelius, who was running against Shallenburger.

All his negative quotes about her from then were brought back up. When Sebelius picked former Republican John Moore to be her running mate in 2002, Parkinson called it a "gimmick."

On Wednesday, he said he had been wrong.

When you are living in a Red state like I am you wish our President would just try running one ad. There is so much sh-- going on in WV. People are so afraid of loosing their coal mining jobs. Mike Caputo made a statement that he lived by a coal plant, close enough to throw a rock at. I grew up in the same town of Rivesville. I have Cancer. My father died with Cancer. My young daughter developed asthma as soon as we moved back into the town after living in the mountains. My oldest daughter developed Cancer. We lived much closer to the plant then Mike did. The smoke was always in the air along with the noise. My whole house shook from noise. He made the statement that no one he knew suffered from coal related problems. He is younger then me but, he knows my family. The thing is we can't pin the disease on the plant. They closed the plant last year. The town has gone down hill. When industry leaves the towns and cities around the industry becomes like ghost towns.

They blame strong environmental legislation on the closing of mines and coal powered plants. No one can see the future here. I guess some things take a while to change. The ads here are awful. The G.O.P. makes fun of Obama and Harry Reid and links Manchin and Gov. Tomblin in with them. These are the ads that go over and over. Manchin puts out his own ads with information telling how he has fought against strong environmental regulations on coal. He is fighting his own battle. The people in the area of the University are Obama followers but, the further out in the sticks you go the more you find the ignorance. People call Obama Muslim. They belive all the religious horror stories put out by the GOP. Propoganda has taken over! How can that happen?
