White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki revealed in an hour-long interview with David Axelrod that she intends to step down from her role after serving only roughly one year.
Psakis plans arent that out of the ordinary. Administrations typically work through a number of people in that very high stress and manic-paced role; for example, the Trump administration saw four separate Press Secretaries serve former President Donald Trump.
Psakis comments came during a conversation with host David Axelrod (with whom she worked during the Obama administration) that she is undaunted by the challenge and the responsibility (which she says she loves), but when she discussed the role with the Biden transition team, it was about serving roughly a one-year term. I think its going to be time for somebody else to have this job, in a year from now or about a year from now, she said....................................

(7,281 posts)I suppose she lives in DC since she works there, but where did she live before? It would be interesting to see if her plan is to run for office. She's certainly as qualified as anyone I can think of.
I think she might just be the best, if not one of the best Press Secretary's we've ever had. Or at least in my adult life time.

(5,275 posts)She has been just about perfect, she will be a tough act to follow. The way she succinctly shreds the snotty comments by right wing types is priceless.

(70,501 posts)It is a high stress job and Jen spends a lot of time doing her homework prior to her pressers.
Karine Jean-Pierre will be ready to go. A black female lesbian. And very smart too. Right wing
heads will be 'sploding.

SOunds pretty impressive to me.....
I hope her ability to think on her feet is half as good as Jen's. Lecturers usually aren't good at that, in my university experience. (I also married one lol) No matter what she does, she'll be light years better than anyone pendejo45 had, so I look forward to her daily pressers.
Thanks!

(7,722 posts)When she used to do her guest spots on MSNBC it just seemed to me like she'd fill in the space with a lot of trite Dem attack lines/talking points. She's not even close to Psaki's skill. If she's next in line I hope she's improved.

(2,690 posts)Which is to say, Biden has access to a lot of top talent, talent that is intelligent, quick witted, and honest, traits that not one of Flubbo's Press Secretaries had. Spicer was a clown, Sanders was a clod, Grisham was invisible, and McEnaney was a worse liar than her boss.
My point is that Jen Psaki was tremendous, there will be others, maybe not as amazing as shes been, but definite HoF quality.
But she will be missed.

(10,885 posts)Jen showed everyone how this job should be done - professionally with intelligence, compassion, and good humor. She'll be a star in whatever she chooses to do.
This might be a nice job for Brianna Keilar to consider, if the Biden administration would consider her. She's already located in Washington.

(9,953 posts)... the year is almost half over! I hope she stays. She terrific. We should keep seeding her love... maybe the job needs a salary increase? It's a high profile position.
I wish the media would cover her more, live. It seems like Trump's awful picks were covered more - although that hurt him and them... it helps Biden.
