Water buffalo and elephant hunts just part of NRA head Wayne LaPierre's job, he admits at Texas
Source: New York Daily News
bankruptcy hearing NRA chief Wayne Lapierre said Wednesday hunting and shooting African wildlife is just part of his job. Testifying at a Texas bankruptcy court hearing convened as part of the pro gun-group’s effort to evade a move by New York officials to put the pro-gun group out of business, Lapierre said he hunted water buffalo and elephants on the dime of NRA vendors was “all work.” Among the allegations leveled in a lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James’ is that LaPierre and other key players at the NRA use donor funds like a “piggy bank” to fund extravagant trips around the world, no-show contracts, and a traveling “glam squad” of stylists for LaPierre’s wife, Susan. -snip- “Yes. That was all work,” LaPierre replied. 3. the idiot doesn't even know what he hunted.
If he hunted buffalo in Botswana, or anywhere else in Africa, he hunted Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer). "Water buffalo" refers to a wild (Bubalus amee) or domesticated (Bubalus bubalus) animal from South and Southeast Asia.
A lot of people make this mistake, but if you're going to hunt and kill an animal, at least have the decency and respect to call it by its proper name. (For what it's worth - the only African land mammal more impressive than a Cape buffalo is an elephant. They have a swagger that comes not from outward aggression, but from the knowledge that they can easily rub you out if you piss them off. Lions generally don't mess with them. They personify the notion of being comfortable with one's own abilities. Here's what I think is the best photo I've taken of one.) [img] ![]() |

6. I've read of big game hunters being gored to death
Because the bullet ricocheted off the boss of bone and horn on their head.
Bad ass. |

10. He has to keep up the pretence the NRA is about hunting, not arms dealing
so if he can say he hunts, it deflects from him being a paid representative of the arms industry in reality.

8. F'ing scumbag. What was the name of that short story years ago where a human was kidnapped
and released on an island as for "big game" hunting? Maybe that should happen to LaPierre.

9. I believe you are talking about "The Most Dangerous Game".
The hunted in this story was very tough and resourceful and ended up being the victor. LaPierre, after shitting his pants in fear wouldn't have lasted any time at all. |

11. Yes! Great story -- well in my early teens anyway.
Spot on about LaPierre.
