Murkowski votes with Senate panel to advance Haaland nomination

Source: The Hill

BY ZACK BUDRYK AND RACHEL FRAZIN - 03/04/21 10:58 AM EST

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee voted Thursday to advance the nomination of Rep. Deb Haaland (D-N.M.) to lead the Interior Department, sending her nomination to the full Senate.

The panel voted 11-9 to approve Haaland’s nomination, with Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) siding with Democrats to support the nomination.

Haaland's nomination will now go to the full Senate, where she is expected to be confirmed barring Democratic defections. Confirmation for nominees requires a simple majority.

The nomination has been contentious, with Republicans taking aim at Haaland's stances on fossil fuels and pledging to try to defeat her. GOP senators could also potentially delay her confirmation through procedural hurdles.

1. Considering the Native to White ratio in Murkowski's State, she may have not ..

..seen the racial wedge bias as some of her fellow R's see it

As for future determinations concerning fossil fuels, those are all debatable when they come up.

Thank you on this vote, Sen Murkowski.

Pitiful that Neera Tanden wasn't given the same consideration.
She was pro $15 mn wage & would have been a fierce ally for that debate.
Oh well...

4. Wasn't just Manchin.

I think Tanden should have compiled volumnes of the threatening & horrific & sick tweets she's received over just the last 4 years, & entered them into the Congressional Record during the debate on her nom..

If anyone had vile hateful words directed her way, it was Neera Tanden.
And we all know where they came from.

It was't just Manchin nor the R's.

They can all just f'ing Own it.
