NRA sues New York attorney general, says she wants to destroy 'political enemy'
Source: Reuters
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The National Rifle Association filed a countersuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James, saying she lacks authority to invoke state laws governing nonprofits in her zeal to destroy the gun rights group. In a Tuesday night court filing, the NRA, which filed for bankruptcy last month, accused James of "weaponizing" her powers to pursuing a "blatant and malicious retaliation campaign" against it because she dislikes what it stands for. James' office did not immediately respond on Wednesday to requests for comment. The attorney general had sued the NRA and Chief Executive Wayne LaPierre last August, saying the nonprofit diverted millions of dollars to fund luxurious trips for officials, no-show contracts for associates, and other questionable expenses. That's even worse than the good guy with a gun argument.

1. Must remember that argument if I am ever in troubl with the police
I must sue them as they "lack the authority to invoke the law".

5. Basically the NRA is taking the "witch hunt" position.
Seems that they keep seeking legal counsel of Donald Trump Esq.

8. The problem with the NRA's suit is that if the evidence shows the NRA missed funds for the benefit
of their board members, it is irrelevant whether the NRA is a "political enemy." I'd like to see how the NRA would try to prove that the they are a victim of a vendetta against a political enemy.
