New Jersey governor signs bills legalizing marijuana
Source: The Hill
BY ARIS FOLLEY - 02/22/21 01:28 PM EST New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) has signed legislation into law legalizing and regulating the use and possession of marijuana for adults 21 years of age and older. The legislation also decriminalizes marijuana and hashish possession, his office announced Monday. “Our current marijuana prohibition laws have failed every test of social justice, which is why for years I’ve strongly supported the legalization of adult-use cannabis,” Murphy said in a statement. “Maintaining a status quo that allows tens of thousands, disproportionately people of color, to be arrested in New Jersey each year for low-level drug offenses is unjust and indefensible,” he added. 11. LOL
I remember my mom wanted to go right after they legalized gambling there just to see... so we went not long after they opened Resorts, International. They used to have the buses going down there from Philly that cost $10 and they handed you $10 in quarters when you got off the bus at the casino. There were seniors who were down there very day. I think the trip was less than 90 minutes (including traffic, etc).
Eventually PA legalized gambling and when we finally added the last piece - legalized table games, that was pretty much the end of the PA - NJ day-trippers. |

2. This could improve performance of some of those "Jersey Drivers"
Especially the hyperbolic tailgaters ... 6 feet off your bumper at 55mph ... you can barely go fast enough to get out of their way and on the curb. In my experience NJ contractor types, but hey most of them stop at red lights, unlike the students.

3. I got my N.J. drivers' license in 1960...-- no accidents, over 1.3 millions miles.
If you want, I offer to give you lessons on how to drive in N.J. $125.00 per hour. It is expensive but it may save your life.

4. Grew up in PA, live in Jersey now. IMO, Jersey ain't bad. It's the Maryland drivers
that drive like maniacs.

7. I lived in Worcester for half a year in the early 70s, and have visited Boston several times
and would agree that drivers in central and eastern Massachusetts are completely insane. Can't speak to the western part.

6. Amen. Driving on the Capitol Beltway is the stuff of nightmares
I grew up and lived and drove in NJ until I was 38. We've lived in Maryland about 30 years.
I can hardly wait for my husband to retire so we can move back to NJ. |

13. BOTH Massachusetts (I went to college there) and D.C. metro drivers (many work trips)
are insane... But I'll raise your NJ/MA/MD's with some Atlanta drivers too!!!

12. That'll never happen
When they are over on this side of the river, they think their car is a plane and that the dashed lines between street lanes means that they must put their car's imaginary front/nose wheel dead center on the line!

15. But people must remember it is still federally illegal
It is a violation of the UCMJ for military people using or in possession. You will find yourself in the stockade, Leavenworth, or club fed.
For civilians, if you hold a clearance, you will lose it and be fired. Even if you do it in your own house. It is still illegal to smoke or possess in any federal building or on federal property. And there is a lot of federal land in NJ. This is the DU member formerly known as Coleman.

17. You would have to do more than just use to get thrown in prison for weed in the military
A court-martial is a serious pain in the ass for a commander to do. They generally take the easy route and issue either a General or Other than Honorable administrative discharge under AR 635-200 Chapter 14-12(c)(2).
