Graham assures Trump of acquittal after rocky start to trial

Source: The Hill

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), one of former President Trump’s closest Senate allies, reassured Trump Tuesday evening that he will be acquitted on a charge of inciting an insurrection, even though his lawyers received bad reviews after opening arguments.

“I think his team will do better, can do better,” Graham told reporters, summarizing his conversation with Trump. “I reinforced to the president, the case is over. It’s just a matter of getting the final verdict now.”

Graham made his confident prediction after 44 Republican senators, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), voted against proceeding with a trial that Trump’s defense team argued was unconstitutional.

Graham said Trump didn’t appear to be frustrated with the opening arguments, even though CNN reported Tuesday that he was close to screaming at the television while watching his lawyer Bruce Castor deliver a meandering opening statement.

They are persona non grata to all who do vote to convict.

I really wonder if Americans will wake up and realize that the Republican Party is a fascist organization and just as blood thirsty as Hitler's killers. One only has to know how violent and determined the Republican trash that attacked the Capital were and how they were determined to even kill the Vice President and Speaker of the House. They were calling out Nancy where are you hiding and would according to one of their own said that they would have torn her to bits if they found her.

Presented by the impeachment managers.

No one with a drop of conscience in their blood could defend Trump.

What does Trumpco have on Graham?

Whatever it is, it must be big.

Lindsey. Is squirming.

His call to Raffensperger, asking him to find ways to invalidate votes opens him up to criminal prosecution for election tampering.
If he is called to task for this, I wonder if he will be feeling confident of his own acquittal.
It's also evidence of his participation in the big lie that the election was stolen.
And, of course, that all led to the January 6th insurrection.

Trump will probably not be found guilty as charged in his impeachment, but Graham may not be so lucky in a criminal court.
For that matter, Trump may not fair so well in a criminal case either.
