New York DJ who appears to have smoked pot during Capitol riot arrested after tip
Source: CNBC
A New York DJ was arrested Tuesday after the FBI said he was seen on a Snapchat video smoking what appears to be marijuana in the U.S. Capitol rotunda during the Jan. 6 riot by supporters of then-President Donald Trump.
Holy s---! This is history! We took the Capitol! a man believed to be that DJ, Greg Rubenacker, said on a Snapchat video posted by Rubenackers account during the invasion, according to a criminal complaint filed by federal prosecutors.
Smoke out the Capitol, baby, Rubenacker is seen saying while facing a camera on a subsequent video, while smoking what appears to be a marijuana cigarette (or joint) as he and other people who occupied the rotunda mill around, an FBI agent wrote in that complaint.
Hell yeah, Rubenacker is seen saying before exhaling smoke into the rotunda after one of his fellow rioters says, How many joints we have? the complaint says.

(23,706 posts)I can't tell what's in that cigarette. Unless the video showed a seed exploding.
Dude.

(19,142 posts)...got turned in by a family member. His name is Ayers. The relative saw him in a video and called the FBI. I'd like to be there for their Thanksgiving dinner this year.
Imagine being one of those idiots, knowing that your mug is available on any monitor, and just waiting for the knock on the door.

(246 posts)Had he smoked pot in the capitol on any other day at any other time and got arrested I'd call him an activist and freedom fighter. As it is, all he did was get arrested as a piece of sh*t.

(5,960 posts)but um... isn't small amounts of cannabis legal in D.C.? And, if we are talking about some rule on the Capitol grounds, wouldn't the subsequent misdemeanor be a job for the D.C. police and courts? I am not defending that trash at all, but I will always be wary of legal wrangling regardless of who it is being used for or against. Anyone know how this would normally work?

It is still a misdemeanor.

(5,960 posts)So, who is supposed to handle it? Do the feds really put their resources into pursuing a misdemeanor cannabis charge? Or is that handled by the D.C. police?

(845 posts)But its mostly sent for destruction. Nobody is going to court for personal amounts.
