Appointments pushed back, confusion reigns over 2nd COVID-19 vaccine dose

The instructions upon getting a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine are clear: People should get the second shot three or four weeks later.

But things get a lot murkier when it comes to actually getting an appointment to meet that deadline.

As more Los Angeles County residents than ever receive their first doses, tightening vaccine supplies and online scheduling problems are hampering their ability to finish the two-dose vaccination process.

On Thursday, potentially thousands of people had their vaccine appointments postponed after the Ralphs supermarket chain — a large vaccine distributor — said the county’s Department of Public Health, at the request of state officials, had “recovered” 10,000 doses previously intended for scheduled appointments, according to emails obtained by The Times. A Ralphs spokesperson said only first-dose customers were affected, but it only added to the confusion.

Everyone here knows that the lack of any planning for vaccine distribution is totally on Benedict Donald, yet the uninformed general public is beginning to blame President Biden. A woman my wife works with has been desperately trying to get here 80 year old mother vaccinated, and in the past few days has been complaining about President Biden not doing enough to move this process along. My wife tried explaining that President Biden has only been in office a few days and was left with a god-awful mess, but that fell on deaf ears - all this woman cares about is that she so far hasn't been able to get her mother vaccinated.

I'm sure there are many other Americans out there who expected miracles to happen on day 1 of the Biden administration. I normally dislike to placing for problems and instead prefer to focus on a solution, but in this case I feel that it's important to keep pounding out the message that Benedict Donald has caused this mess by a total lack of planning.
