Trump's EPA Skips Waiting Period for Rules, Making It Harder for Biden to Repeal
Source: Yahoo/Bloomberg
(Bloomberg) -- The Trump administration is rushing to impose industry-backed regulations using a tactic that will make it harder for President-elect Joe Biden to repeal them. Federal agencies, including the EPA, have skirted the customary waiting period of at least 30 days for new regulations to take effect and put several into force immediately. It’s a new twist on midnight rulemaking that undercuts the ability of Biden to freeze regulations his first day in office. The law permits an agency to skip the waiting period for certain regulations if they have good cause to believe that waiting would be “impracticable, unnecessary, or contrary to the public interest.” But experts say some of Trump’s recent regulations don’t appear to meet the criteria -- and that they haven’t seen an outgoing administration make such widespread use of the exemption. “We’re seeing essentially a new and unprecedented tactic to get last-minute regulatory actions on the books so that it ties the hands of the incoming administration,” said Amit Narang, a regulatory policy expert with the watchdog group Public Citizen. 2. Shocked the EPA even still exists
A Trump reelection may have seen that agency abolished. The environment and its people are a means to the ends of the exploitative, destructive industries who put profits over the health of people. EPA actually protects us, even saves lives by regulating toxins that can KILL YOU. Pro life != Unbridled Corporate "freedom" |

4. The exemption is misused so it can be contested and most likely negated.

6. With our side having the House & Senate.......
is it possible to simply go back to the laws/rules that were in place before trump took office?
Then tweak those that need a little tune-up. Congress already has a semi truck load of issues to deal with because of trumpig, erasing everything he's undone would save a lot of needless debate. |

7. When we take over the Senate
we can use the Congressional Review Act to torpedo much of that stuff by legislation.

8. If he is removed doesn't his late actions make these rules void?
I think a law can be passed to void these executive actions.

10. Also, why not just let the companies affected know that they will be reversed in a month
So don't go investing any money in something expecting it to last. Or make your business reports out with projections based on the temporary regulations in place.
