Firefighter Andrew Williams arrested after photo showed him pointing at a placard for Speaker Pelosi in US Capitol Building
By Jamiel Lynch and Danielle Hackett, CNN 58 mins ago
A Florida firefighter was arrested for unlawful entry of a restricted building and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, according to court documents, after a photo surfaced of him wearing a Trump 2020 hat and pointing at a placard for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi inside the US Capitol.
Andrew Williams, a firefighter-paramedic with the Sanford Fire Department, appeared in federal court Tuesday and was released on a $25,000 signature bond, according to the court documents.
The Sanford Fire Department launched an investigation into Williams' involvement after the photo circulated online. Fire Chief Craig Radzak confirmed it was Williams in the photo and said that Williams had been with the department as a firefighter-paramedic since October 2016.
Williams has been placed on administrative leave without pay, according to an updated release from the fire department.

(9,998 posts)Are you qualified for anything other than firefighting? Perhaps some corrupt police department would hire you.
But you're in FL, so you got a fighting chance to find some place that doesn't care you participated in a Riot at the U.S. Capitol.

(4,968 posts)However, it was not a 'riot'... it was a specific attack and the more I read about it, the more I am feeling that 'spur of the moment' decision was made a long while before that day. Just my opinion of course.

(1,098 posts)There was nothing "spontaneous" about this attack for many of the participants. Comms, maps, staging/meeting areas, accommodating LEOs, etc. - this was a planned and coordinated assault.

Welcome to people wondering if a firefighter is a secret member of the KKK.
Thats what happens when you support Trump.

This is unprecedented social and political behaviour and displays a vile and insidious contempt for democracy.
They should not be released until their guilt or innocence has been proven. (might not be legal, but it is my sentiment)
Accelerate the judicial process where necessary, but stay on message and keep these fucked-up 'threads' out of our 'social fabric' as long as possible.
This guy (Mr. Williams) definitely.
Signature Bond? WTF?
Oh, and Caveman guy? What the hell was he thinking? Perhaps it was his 'fantasy day out' in his self-perceived open-air L.A.I.R.E. event. (Sorry for the 'Role Models' pop culture reference) And what was the purpose of the ferret on his head? (Confession... My wife and I think he gets the award for best dressed 'MAGAT' - Make America Great Again TERRORIST)
I used to attend board gaming events years ago where they banned nazi (and any military) cosplay decisively - decades ago. Everyone was happy after that. Nationally, we should consider adopting the same approach to militia cosplayers (when you wear military uniforms and gear to any public event which then becomes violent, you could be charged for incitement of violence) - AND - perhaps all public servants at national, state and local levels (All Firemen, police, and all publicly elected officials) should swear an oath to the constitution as well. You want a job keeping society safe? Then raise your right hand...

(1,910 posts)These clowns will get a whole lot more once Garland takes command of DOJ and they fully investigate them. My hunch is this guy left a trail of evidence of planning to go after Pelosi. He did not stand under that placard by accident. They had a plan. Once conspiracy is charged, the penalties escalate a lot.

(127,312 posts)the bail is most likely $250,000 but they will often allow payment of 10% of that as a "bond" and if you skip the appearance, then you owe the full $250,000.

(127,312 posts)and it usually depends on the jurisdiction and how they set up their bail (including what crimes qualify for what amounts, although I expect federal bail amounts are standardized). In this case, he was arrested in FL and a charge of sedition wasn't made (yet) - so far it was only disorderly conduct. What may happen is once he goes to D.C. for further court appearances, the feds may impose a higher or no bail based on any additional charges once they complete their investigation.
