The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on Friday to dismiss a challenge to the Trump administration’s exclusion of undocumented immigrants from the U.S. census, the once-per-decade population count used to allocate House seats among the states.

The decision broke along ideological lines, with the court’s six conservative justices finding that the lawsuit brought by nearly two dozen states was premature. The court’s three more liberal members dissented.

They have to actually deliver numbers to congress that exclude people who should be included before there’s anything to review... particularly since the final adjustment may be too small to impact the actually apportionment between the states.

Moot insofar as Joe Biden can reverse the exclusion as soon as he takes Office?

He can influence how the new solicitor general argues the issue before the court... but there’s no provision for one president changing the numbers submitted by the previous president.

But the census might not get Trump numbers to submit before he leaves office.
