Voting Machine Manufacturer Demands Retractions From Conservative News Networks Over Fraud Claims

Source: Forbes

TOPLINE Smartmatic—one of two voting machine manufacturers that’s been attacked by President Trump and his allies (without evidence) for supposedly rigging the 2020 election—announced Monday that it is demanding retractions and delivering legal notices to three conservative networks that promoted the conspiracy theories.

KEY FACTS
The demand letters, according to an announcement from the company, will be sent to Fox News, as well as two of the president’s new favorite right-wing networks: Newsmax and One America News Network.

Inside, the letters outline “dozens of factually inaccurate statements” made by each organization as part of what Smartmatic describes as a “disinformation campaign” to harm the voting machine company and discredit the 2020 election.

“These organizations could have easily discovered the falsity of the statements and implications made about Smartmatic by investigating their statements before publishing them to millions of viewers and readers,” wrote Smartmatic.

I see Faux as a weak maybe on the retraction. The other two? No way are they retracting.
SmartMatic will have to sue.
OAN is a financial pipsqueak. They could crush them with a suit. The legal defense costs could cripple those lying nothings.

Smartmatic Threatens Legal Action Against Fox News, Newsmax and One America News for Airing ‘Disinformation Campaign’

Smartmatic, a technology company with a self-described mission of “building the most secure, accessible and easy-to-use election technologies ever designed, to safeguard the election process from start to finish,” has threatened to take legal action against Fox News, Newsmax and One America News.

The company, which finds itself baselessly lumped in with Dominion Voting Systems as a conspirator in ensuring President Donald Trump’s election loss, is demanding retractions and threatening defamation lawsuits as it hemorrhages business amid an onslaught of attacks.

Attorney Sidney Powell has repeatedly gone after Smartmatic, linking it to Hugo Chavez and would-be “communist” election-rigging for the rest of time.

“The Dominion Voting Systems, the Smartmatic technology software, and the software that goes in other computerized voting systems here as well, not just Dominion, were created in Venezuela at the direction of Hugo Chavez to make sure he never lost an election after one constitutional referendum came out the way he did not want it to come out,” Powell asserted in November.

According to an Associated Press fact-check of the claims, “Dominion does not have any ties to Venezuela, nor does it have a partnership with Smartmatic” and Smartmatic is an “international company incorporated in Florida by Venezuelan founders.” /snip

Oh my! What's next, will I hit the lottery?

I really doubt either event actually coming to be, but it's about time someone stood up to the lies from Fox's night time programming. I hope they pay

So it will be interesting to see if voting machines get put through the grill and see if they hold up.

Since Trump also commented on Dominion, does Dominion plan to sue? Or is he immune?

How is any defendant going to defend against such a suit?
