Killer Robot? Assassination of Iranian Scientist Feeds Conflicting Accounts

Humiliated by the killing of a top nuclear scientist, Iranian officials sought this week to rewrite the attack as an episode of science fiction: Israel had executed him entirely by remote control, spraying bullets from an automated machine gun propped up in a parked Nissan without a single assassin on the scene.

Even hard-liners mocked the new spin.

“Why don’t you just say Tesla built the Nissan? It drove by itself, parked by itself, fired the shots and blew up by itself?” one hard-line social media account said. “Are you, like us, doubting this narrative?”

Since the killing of the scientist on Friday, contradictory reports in the official news media about the escape or even existence of a hit team — along with assertions of prior warnings from the Interior Ministry about the attack — revealed tensions between competing Iranian intelligence agencies as each sought to dodge blame for an egregious security lapse.

1. The Jackal (1997) featured a remote control gun but it was more like a .50 Cal

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119395/

Not much of a movie other than it being filmed in Richmond and the remote gun.

2. Why is a remote operated machine gun 'laughable' ?

“Japan’s Hayabusa 2 spacecraft departed asteroid Ryugu a little over a year ago, with soil samples and data ...
On December 6, 2020, the sample return container is set to land in the Australian outback.”

But a remote operated machine gun is mocked ?

3. remote targeting systems are real and available....

until youtube cracked down, you could watch videos of the guns in action. One bozo even demonstrated emptying a mac 11 from a drone copter; a fairly small and affordable drone copter at that.

Remote assassins' will become a thing. The tech very real and available. About the only defense is jamming. But smart autopilot systems can defeat even that, as cruise missiles prove.

5. It is not the idea of a remote control machine gun

That is being mocked but the radically different scenarios that are being put forth by various intelligence agencies. I believe it has been reported four different ways as to how the assassination actually happened.

The Iranian people realize the agencies are less concerned with the truth than providing excuses for their failures. What was once a reported assassination team of over 60 is now being reduced to potentially zero.
