Meadows doubles down on White House pandemic response: 'We're not going to control it'
Source: The Hill
White House chief of staff Mark Meadows on Monday rejected the notion that the Trump administration has given up on fighting the spread of the coronavirus, but then doubled down on his controversial remarks that the U.S. will not control the virus.
"We're going to defeat the virus; we're not going to control it," Meadows told reporters outside the White House. "We will try to contain it as best we can, but ... we need to make sure that we have therapeutics and vaccines."
Meadows was seeking to defend comments he made Sunday, when he told CNN "were not going to control the pandemic, an extraordinary admission that the administration has essentially given up on fighting the spread of the coronavirus.
He also told CNN's Jake Tapper that, "We are gonna control the fact that we get vaccines, therapeutics and other mitigations."

We were in 2-4k a day, and are back to 5-6k. Hopefully it won't last, but thankfully the deaths haven't happened like before (yet).

Its like complaining that seat belt laws don't prevent people people from flying through windshields. ..... people still have to comply with those laws and buckle up.

(10,901 posts)69,814 cases, exceeding the previous mid-July peak. So it's not just an outlier one day or two day spike kinda thing.
It's also important because every graph I've seen of U.S. new cases has a bold line (usually red) showing the 7 day moving average. Well that line, at last, for the first time, is higher than the last peak which was in July.

Why did Trump let it get out of control?

JOE KERNEN: Have you been briefed by the CDC? Are there worries about a pandemic at this point?
PRESIDENT TRUMP: No. Not at all. And we have it totally under control. It's 1 person coming from China, and we have it under control. It's-going to be just fine...
