Ballistics don't support AG Cameron's claim Breonna Taylor's boyfriend shot officer
Source: Courier Journal
LOUISVILLE, Ky. A Kentucky State Police ballistics report does not support state Attorney General Daniel Camerons assertion that Breonna Taylors boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, shot a Louisville police officer the night she was killed.
Cameron told reporters Wednesday the investigation into Taylors March 13 death had ruled out friendly fire from ex-Louisville Metro Police officer Brett Hankison as the source of the shot that went through LMPD Sgt. Jonathan Mattinglys thigh, prompting him and officer Myles Cosgrove to return fire, killing Taylor.
Cameron said Hankison had been eliminated as the shooter because the three officers were all carrying .40 caliber handguns, while Walker had a 9.
Steve Romines, one of Walkers attorneys, said he had obtained a LMPD record showing Hankison had been issued a 9-mm weapon as well.

(26,727 posts)Walker admits to having fired a 9mm round. The contrary claim does not appear to be that one of the officers was also using a 9mm during the clash... but rather that he had previously been issued a 9MM by the department. Walker's attorney does not appear to have shared the documentation nor given a reason to believe that the second weapon was at the scene or had been fired.

(95,244 posts)That would, I agree, settle the matter.

(26,727 posts)But only one 9mm round was recovered from the scene and one had been fired from Walker's gun. Crafting a story that includes one of the officers carrying a second weapon firing a single round (and in the opposite direction) while Walker's round was never found - (along with all the coverup that would then have occurred)... seems far less plausible then that Walker's round hit someone.
Didn't they decline to charge him on the basis that he had a right to self-defense?

(53,761 posts)ballistic tests on all the weapons involved if they want the actual true.
And so what if the boyfriend shot the cop? He had a legal carry permit and Kentucky is a stand-your-ground/castle doctrine state. If someone is busting in your door you have the right to shoot.
And the AG's contention that the cops knocked on a no-knock warrant sounds extremely shakey as 12 witnesses said they heard no knock while the AG's office said one witness heard a knock. That sure sounds like bullshit to me as why would you knock with a no-knock warrant?
