South Dakota authorities on Sunday reported the first haul of crashes, arrests and citations from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in the western part of the state.

The annual rally started on Friday, drawing thousands of maskless riders to the streets and bars of Sturgis. While organizers have said they expect fewer visitors than in other years, the Argus Leader reports the number of arrests, citations and accidents has kept pace with last year.

The Department of Public Safety reported that police made 84 arrests for driving under the influence or drug-related offenses during a 24-hour period spanning from Saturday into Sunday morning. Thatís up from last year, when 76 people had been arrested in a similar time frame.

Police have also issued more citations, with 226 people getting tickets. The figure is 37 more than last year. But it appears police are less lenient this year and are letting fewer people off with warnings.

3. I assume the cops were in full riot gear during the arrests, and that Dear Leader will be sending

in his Border Patrol stormtroopers.

4. What could go wrong?

Over a hundred thousand people, crowding in to bars for a week, no masks, no distancing.........

Tens of millions in tax revenue for Sturgis and the State, with no need to take care of the people medically when all the morons scatter back to their homes all over the U.S. in need of Covid care.

We all witnessed what a few cruise ships did, and what happened when all the travelers from Europe came into New York. I can only imagine how much worse this will be..........................

5. Less people, more arrests and citations -- they're bringing their best, that's for sure . . .

cross along a street.

If you're washed in the blood of Jesus, you ain't got C-19 to worry about.

10. Loud Motorcycle Guy from down the block has been MIA for 4 days

so I'll bet the idiot is up there with all the other idiots. Good place for him. Maybe they'll keep him.

A video earlier of the tricked out bikes didn't seem to have the usual crowds drooling over them. Either it was early and they were still sleeping it off or the crowd was a lot thinner this year. I hope it's the latter or there are going to be a lot of sick biker dudes bringing the virus home with them.

17. Nice to see the Super Spreaders are putting forth the effort.

Imagine if that effort were directed toward something positive? In about a month the thundering herd will start thinning dramatically, along with many innocent people who didn't feel the need to be counted as victims of the Sturgis-Trump virus.
