Stimulus talks on the brink of collapse as two sides trade blame and get no closer to a deal

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)A three-hour meeting Thursday evening between senior administration officials and Democratic leaders yielded little progress as both sides seemed resigned to the likelihood that Congress won't reach a major stimulus deal amid an economic crisis.

Both sides emerged from the meeting trading blame for the sputtering talks -- and the administration officials warned that President Donald Trump would take executive action if no deal is reached by Friday.

It's unclear if the two sides will meet on Friday. White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin plan to brief Trump later Thursday night and Friday morning as they decide whether to continue to negotiate with Democrats.

"We are very far apart -- it's most unfortunate," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said.

... help the country, because they think that Biden will win. So, this is why Republicans are requesting an insufficient economic package, plus things that do not help such as a payroll tax cut.

The only way Republicans would go along with a package is if it could significant help Trump such as a large one time check signed by Trump right before the election.

Republicans do not care. The worse thing for them is to pass a package that is actually helpful and have Biden successfully implement it and get the credit that he would actually deserve.

Also, I think there is some reluctance for both Democrats and Republicans to give too much discretion to Trump, because he might sabotage it such as his firing of Inspector Generals for the CARES Act. Put another way, Trump can even screw up a good package, because he is so corrupt and incompetent.

republicans just want to wreak as much damage and suffering on the country before they're out of power.

And in fact, supposedly 20 Senate Republicans will not vote for any of this.

We all know how the GOP operates now. Each and every senator approves of a man who sits in the White House whom has broken several laws and continues to head down the path of dictatorship.

And knowing that, we then all know which side is causing the problem.

C'mon CNN, wake the fuck up.

If nothing gets passed, Trump has indicated he'll do much of what she wants. She can hold out for what Democrats want and be able to say that she got as much by fighting as she would have by agreeing.

senate democrats, along with just enough republican senators, pass the house bill as is and quickly sends it to trump.

that could happen in hours i bet.

but that would need a senate leader who could actually lead even if its leading the other party to a successful vote and telling his own party to go fuck itself because this is too important.

is mitch that man?????
