Adviser says Kanye West no longer trying to run for president: 'He's out'

Source: The Hill

Days after tweeting he was running for president, the rapper Kanye West is reportedly dropping his attempt to get into the 2020 race.

“He’s out," adviser Steve Kramer told New York Magazine's The Intelligencer. Kramer said he had been hired to help West get on ballots by gathering signatures in two key states.

West tweeted on July 4 that he was running for president, apparently in 2020.

"We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States!" he wrote.

Friends and family have briefed the media. They're worried.

Delusions of running to be President of the United States are precisely the sort thing one would expect from a bipolar high.

When you look at his behavior, it's clear that there is some empty pit that has to be filled. Narcissistic pathology has two dimensions, narcissistic grandiosity and narcissistic vulnerability. Both stem from a pervasive sense of inferiority and a lack of stable self image. The narcissist must battle against the reality of one's self by projecting and enforcing a false self, one that is magical, superior, gifted, all powerful.

Narcissistic vulnerability occurs when the narcissist sees how other people are perceiving them. Storms of affect, rage, meltdowns, and all manner of distraction are used as a coping strategy to assuage the ego and deny reality.

To some extent, Kanye has no control over this process. It is a dynamic that has built up in his psyche, and typically when someone reaches the age Kanye has reached, they can't scale back.

What you describe - delusions that one is magical, superior, uniquely gifted and all powerful, are typical of BiPolar Mania. A delusion that you are running to be President of the United States may, during a psychotic episode, relieve into a belief that you are actually the president. When mania dissipates, frequently into depression, memories of a manic episode can be a source of shame and regret.

His behavior is narcissistic, and the grandiosity and vulnerability are obvious. He undoubtedly also has manic symptoms and reportedly does have a bipolar diagnosis.

Personality tends to overlay other diagnoses, and the American psychiatric association for a while tried to encourage clinicians to look at the personality dimension by putting it on a different axis.

The new monoaxial schema for diagnosis in the DSM-5 came about because clinicians continued to not look at personality.

I am not claiming that narcissistic pathology is the only thing going on with Kanye.

Sampled from King Crimson's original, played in many sports stadiums over the years...

(lyrics)

I'm living' in that 21st century
Doing something mean to it
Do it better than anybody you ever seen do it
Screams from the haters, got a nice ring to it
I guess every superhero need his theme music

No one man should have all that power
The clock's ticking', I just count the hours
Stop tripping', I'm tripping' off the power
(21st century schizoid man)

The system broken, the school's closed, the prisons open
We ain't got nothing' to lose, ma' fucka', we rolling
Huh? Ma'fucka', we rollin'
With some light-skinned girls and some Kelly Rowlands
In this white man's world, we the ones chosen
So goodnight, cruel world, I see you in the mornin'
Huh? I'll see you in the mornin'
This is way too much, I need a moment

No one man should have all that power
The clock's tickin', I just count the hours
Stop trippin' I'm trippin' off the power
'Til then, fuck that, the world's ours
And then they say (hey) and then they say
And then they say (hey) and then they say
And then they say (hey) and then they say (21st century schizoid man)

Fuck SNL and the whole cast
Tell 'em Yeezy said they can kiss my whole ass
More specifically, they can kiss my asshole
I'm an asshole? You niggas got jokes
You short-minded niggas thoughts is Napoleon
My furs is Mongolian, my ice brought the goldies in
Now I embody every characteristic of the egotistic
He knows, he so, fuckin' gifted

I just needed time alone, with my own thoughts
Got treasures in my mind but couldn't open up my own vault
My childlike creativity, purity and honesty
Is honestly being crowded by these grown thoughts
Reality is catchin' up with me
Takin' my inner child, I'm fighting for custody
With these responsibilities that they entrusted me
As I look down at my diamond encrusted piece
Thinkin',

No one man should have all that power
The clock's tickin', I just count the hours
Stop trippin', I'm trippin' off the powder
'Til then, fuck that, the world's ours
And then they say (hey) and then they say
And then they say (hey) and then they say
And then they say (hey) and then they say (21st century schizoid man)

Colin Powells, Austin Powers
Lost in translation with a whole fuckin' nation
They say, I was the abomination of Obama's nation
Well that's a pretty bad way to start the conversation
At the end of day, goddammit I'm killin' this shit
I know damn well y'all feelin' this shit
I don't need your pussy, bitch I'm on my own dick
I ain't gotta power trip, who you goin' home with?
How 'Ye doin? I'm survivin'
I was drinkin' earlier, now I'm drivin'
Where the bad bitches, huh? Where ya hidin'?
I got the power, make yo' life so exciting (so exciting)

Now this will be a beautiful death
Jumping out the window
Letting everything go
Letting everything go

Now this will be a beautiful death
Jumping out the window
Letting everything go
Letting everything go

Now this will be a beautiful death
Jumping out the window
Letting everything go
Letting everything go

You got the power to let power go?

ON BEING A POLITICAL NOVICE

“I have to say with all humility that as a man, I don’t have all of the pieces in the puzzle. As I speak to you for what a political campaign—a political walk, as I told you, because I’m not running, I’m walking. I'm not running, we the people are walking. We’re not running anymore, we’re not running, we’re not excited—we are energized. Someone can say, ‘Hey, I got a brand new car for you, it’s across the street,’ and you get so excited you run across the street and get hit by a car trying to run to your new car. That’s how they control the Black community, through emotions, they get us excited, we’re so excited, but then for 400 years the change doesn’t truly happen.

He played Trump. He's not on Biden's side yet -- because of how he thinks Democrats have 'played' black people -- but he'd support Biden's policies on China, and is in fact, against Trump's policy on China, since Yeezy lived there as a kid.

I've followed him for twenty years, known him since he did a free gig at the high school where I taught. Obama dislikes him, but Sasha and Malia, I and millions of others, love his music. We're like, "he has opinions, no big deal."

Yeezy's raising kids and making music on his Wyoming ranch. People who've visited the ranch and used it for weddings and conferences all say he's a very peaceful, nice person.

Trust me, he doesn't need the money.

It's self indulgent nonsense.

The man has obviously fooled a good many people, parlayed his foolishness into a lot of money, and with his platform is spreading his dangerous delusions to a lot of gullible and credulous people.

Anti-vaccine, prayer in schools, pro-forced birth, Wakanda Management Model(?!?) - the man may be musically talented but he's no Dr Dre or Grandmaster Flash. And he's no Ralph Ellison character. He comes across as a second rate jester.

Coaxing and encouraging him to run. Stoking his illusions of grandeur.

The idea I'm sure was that Kanye would pronounce that he is the only one black Americans should be voting for. Now black Americans are not going to fall for that, not all of them. But I'm sure Republicans were counting on at least skimming off some sector of black voters that would never vote for Trump, but also were despondant with having to choose between two old white guys. And all the while fed ads about how both are the same, and are not looking out for black Americans, like Kanye would. Targeting voters who would have probably voted Biden as the best choice between the two, but may vote Kanye as a protest vote. So he would be used to skim off just enough to make a difference in some close elections in Southern states. Or at least close enough to use as an explanation for them to engage in election fraud to alter the results.

Kanye is officially on the ballot in Oklahoma, according to the state's Election Board, beating Wednesday's deadline. As we reported, contrary to other stories, Kanye is still very much in the 2020 Presidential race. We first told you he filed docs with the Federal Election Commission, but filing docs in an individual states shows he's getting granular about his run. Remember, the latest poll shows he's nabbed 2% of the vote.
