Donald Trump, Joe Biden win Louisiana's presidential primary

Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden have won Louisiana’s twice-postponed presidential primary.

Trump faced no true challenger for the Republican nomination, but four other GOP contenders ran against him on Louisiana’s ballot Saturday.

Biden faced 13 other Democrats on the ballot, though he already had locked up enough delegates in other states to become the party’s nominee.

Louisiana had one of the nation’s last presidential primaries. It was delayed twice from its original April 4 date because of the coronavirus pandemic and was pushed back so many months that it became irrelevant to the selection the party nominees.

Voters had extra days of early voting and expanded mail-in balloting options because of the virus outbreak.

Wish I could have found a report on the primaries today that didn't include trump. Sorry about that!

Results as of this moment:

Joseph R. Biden Jr. 115,925 votes, 79.8%, 50 delegates

Bernie Sanders 8,770 votes, 6.0%, 0 delegates

4 delegates unassigned.

1. I guess the Sanders voters were previously mailed-in before he suspended/withdrew.

I do love the idea of mail-in ballots. I've done it myself several times. But the down-side is that I risk the possibility of voting for someone who may withdraw AFTER I mail my ballot, or who may be involved in some humiliating scandal which would thusly make him (or her) undetectable anyway.

In any case... CONGRATULATIONS JOE BIDEN!!!

C'MON! GET IN! We're taking back America!

3. Interestingly enough, more Democrats voted than Republicans (by about 40,000).

4. Doesn't mean anything

the D party was electing its executive committee and county reps, and the R's were not -- so D's who care about process were at the polls for that reason. In addition, Orleans Parish had a city judgeship on the ballot in an off cycle election, meaning Orleans voters (who are major majority D and comparatively large) had a reason to go.

7. 266,941 for Dem Pres candidates, 204,175 for Reps

Also, Biden got 80 percent of DEM votes, and totaled 212,267.
Trump got 96 percent of REP votes, but only totaled 195,795.
