He thought the coronavirus was 'a fake crisis.' Then he contracted it.

A Florida man who thought the coronavirus was "a fake crisis" has changed his mind after he and his wife contracted COVID-19.

Brian Hitchens, a rideshare driver who lives in Jupiter, downplayed the seriousness of the coronavirus in Facebook posts in March and April.

"I'm honoring what our government says to do during this epidemic but I do not fear this virus because I know that my God is bigger than this Virus will ever be," he wrote in a post on April 2. "Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords."

In mid-April, Hitchens, 46, began documenting his and his wife's health on Facebook.

"Been home sick for over a week. Both my wife and I home sick," he wrote in a post on April 18. "I've got no energy and all I want to do is sleep."

2. And how many people contracted the virus because of his ignorance and denial?

He should have those people on his conscience if any of them die.

6. It must have been a little disconcerting

The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords wants him and his wife out of commission, and wants normal people out, about, and healthy.

I hope this idiot is required to learn to recite "Abou ben Adhem" by heart before he is allowed back out in public.

8. Yep!

I have a friend whose sister is a trumpy and she posted this same article on Facebook and has just gone into battle with her Maga friends to say she no longer believes what trump is saying about the virus. I guess it had to happen in her county for her to believe.

19. It is weird how they seem to lack any emotional or cognitive empathy, and something has to directly

affect them for them to have any ability to understand. This is something I've noticed on so many occasions on pretty much every issue.

23. I think they do have some level of empathy, but first they make a judgement call as whether the

recipient(s) is/are worthy (part of their in-group) before they extend any empathy or assistance.

11. In addition to this post, regarding hospitalization...

has any insurance company, municipal government, county, state, or federal agency release a total to date of the monetary costs of hospitalizing people infected with Covid-19?

I would imagine that these costs if not paid by insurance, will come from county governments, or other levels of government through taxation. Then there is the costs of providing funeral/ burial expenses of deceased first responders, county hospital staff, police officers. [link:https://www.odmp.org/search/incident/covid-19|

You'd think they would want to keep their taxes down by being safe in public and not taking unnecessary risks? NO so called fiscal conservative GOPer, that I am aware of, is advocating for safety to prevent financial ruin of local governments.

15. Not good his wife is on the ventilator

It's too bad he (and perhaps his wife) didn't take it seriously. Maybe they would have been able to avoid it if they took proper precautions. I wonder how many others they spread this to. Not going to send him nasty messages or ill thoughts, but I do hope he has the power to convince some similarly stubborn people to stop being morons.

16. How many people did he and his wife infect?

He stated he refused to wear a mask. I have less than zero sympathy for asshats who won't mask up and refuse to listen to the medical professionals and other experts because they not only hurt themselves, they hurt others causing a lot of grief and pain. There are so many people suffering right now who don't deserve it. I reserve my empathy for them.

21. It doesn't matter what "side" someone is on

He has spread and contracted the virus.

I don’t give a shit about his opinions, and neither does the virus.

If each one of these stupid motherfuckers needs a personal lesson to “change their mind” who gives a shit that they change their mind AFTER they’ve already done untold harm to others, and received medical care they aren’t going to pay for.

These people are a hazard and drain to all of us. Whether they change their mind after they’ve done their harm to us and to themselves is of no consequence at all.

Charlie Manson might have had a change of opinions too. Who gives a shit?

22. He posted, "use wisdom"

Last edited Tue May 19, 2020, 07:58 PM - Edit history (1)

Hitchens, who has been unable to see his wife since they were hospitalized ((she is on a ventilator and might not survive -Progree)), said he was holding out hope she would recover.

"This thing is nothing to be messed with please listen to the authorities and heed the advice of the experts," he wrote. "We don't have to fear this and by heeding the advice doesn't mean that you fear it that means you're showing wisdom during this epidemic time."

The May 12 post, in which he implored people to "use wisdom," has been shared more than 500 times.

which is quite an improvement over:

"I'm honoring what our government says to do during this epidemic but I do not fear this virus because I know that my God is bigger than this Virus will ever be," he wrote in a post on April 2. "Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords."

but the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords apparently had other priorities
