McConnell: U.S. Republicans open to future possible coronavirus relief bill

Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Thursday he is open to another relief bill to help alleviate economic pain inflicted by the coronavirus pandemic, and is talking to members of President Donald Trump’s administration about possible legislation.

The top Republican in the U.S. Congress, though, declined to say in an interview with Fox News when his party might begin negotiating another stimulus bill and said their “red line” is including liability protection for companies and other institutions.

“We’re all talking about this. And I talked to the Secretary of the Treasury about it yesterday, to the president’s chief of staff and to the President,” he said. “We all believe another bill is probably going to be necessary.”

McConnell also put another nail in the coffin for a $3 trillion relief bill the Democrat-led House of Representatives is expected to consider on Friday, calling it a “parade of absurdities.”

2. Never Should Have Accepted the Senate Number

Should have copied the same language and put 1/2 or less of the money the Senate put in. Repubs got their business friends $ and care little for helping the states unless they get something in return. They could really care less if NY and CA go broke; if battle states are hurting they'll blame it on the Dem governors.

And don't think by any means that there isn't going to be another wave of layoffs in the state government sector sometime this summer. I've already heard of drastic cuts in the number of teachers for next fall if the state budgets don't improve soon. More union/blue misery gets the Republicans off. If Dems don't start protecting their own financial interests the Repubs are going to continue to take advantage of them (Red state/county welfare).

Dems will be left looking like goddamn fools again when the Republicans strip out means of regulating and accounting... like usual... holding the bag of default after the Senate gets done with it.

"..and said their “red line” is including liability protection for companies and other institutions..."

Every business in the country is clamoring for this, and to get this McConnell is going to have to give Nancy most of what she's asking for.

9. He will only put a bill forward if it will hurt the taxpayers

Only if it cuts the payroll taxes, which is Social Security and Medicare. Of course, only people who are getting a paycheck will benefit from it. And it will destroy the Social Security/Medicare system.
