Chuck Todd apologizes for airing edited William Barr clip
Source: The Hill
NBC "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd apologized on Tuesday for airing a clip Sunday of Attorney General William Barr's interview with CBS reporter Katherine Herridge, which Todd acknowledged was misleading because of an edit that took Barr's remarks out of context. Todd and "Meet the Press" had come under heavy criticism for airing the clip, which made it appear that Barr had decided to drop charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn for political reasons. After the clip from the May 7 CBC interview aired, Todd said that Barr "didn't make the case that he was upholding the rule of law. He was almost admitting that, yeah, this is a political job." ... He said the Barr's full answer would have put in context the portion of the interview that "Meet the Press" did air. "Had I seen that part, I would not have framed the conversation the way I did," he said. "And I am obviously very sorry for that mistake and we strive to do better going forward.” Read more: https://thehill.com/homenews/media/497458-chuck-todd-apologizes-for-airing-edited-william-barr-clip

3. Fuck Todd
He's the reason I've been watching less and less of MSNBC. Keep up the good work!

4. I thought Toad was going to be fired or demoted?
Shit, he's on TV more now than ever, and who picked Steve Kornacki to fill Tweety's slot? I never watch either one of them.

12. I didn't turn off the TV entirely
but turned off all cable news - and I feel so much better. IMHO those shows really are damaging, both one a personal and societal level.

9. Really?
He drives me nuts but demanding his hide when he fucks up and apologizes is equally nuts.
I would rather have his drivel filling up time on the network than not have sponsors and lose that slot to the supporters of propaganda. He’s not perfect. But until someone else is “network ready”, don’t demand NBC kick him out. |

14. Well...
... Barr lied under oath. He is purely political... he lies for Crooked Donald. I'm sure Chuck made that clear, even if the clip did not. After all, Chuck's job is to tell the truth!

15. These kinds of dumb mistakes set any trust in the news even further back
One reason is that the right are well practised at jumping on mistakes like this. They already are good at making up shit, but when they actually have goofballs like Todd to feed off of, they don't even have to try.

20. Fire Chuck Todd, MSNBC.
He lacks enough personal character to do the right thing and resign.
Giving the trump/Barr regime this sort of break is inexcusable. |
