Oklahoma city ends face mask rule for shoppers after store employees are threatened

Source: NBC News

The mayor of an Oklahoma city amended an emergency declaration requiring customers to wear face masks while inside businesses after store employees were threatened with violence.

“In the short time beginning on May 1, 2020, that face coverings have been required for entry into stores/restaurants, store employees have been threatened with physical violence and showered with verbal abuse," City Manager Norman McNickle said in a statement. "In addition, there has been one threat of violence using a firearm."

"The wearing of face coverings is little inconvenience to protect both the wearer and anyone with whom they have contact," McNickle said, condemning those who threatened violence. "It is unfortunate and distressing that those who refuse and threaten violence are so self-absorbed as to not follow what is a simple show of respect and kindness to others.

He said businesses still have the right to require customers to wear a face mask or covering to enter.

You coin that phrase? Someone did. These parents would rather send their kid to school with a gun, just to protect themselves....another bad idea followed by many bad ideas. :/ meh.

Hand out free masks and tell customers they need to wear them to enter the store... or shut down the shop for at least a month.

It's a balancing act.

Maybe the answer is: hire a bouncer.

"No shirt, No shoes, No Service..."

As far back as 1982's Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Sean Penn's "Jeff Spicoli" that has been a thing...

No Mask, No Entrance.
Easy Peasy, Nice and Easy.

Wave a gun at someone? Is that not assault in a sane world?
I think these people have been watching too many reruns of "Tombstone" lately...

There is no need to appease these people or their terroristic threats, simply bar entry and arrest anyone violating the policy for treaspassing. Then they can have their date in court and see if the judge allows them to brandish arms in the courtroom too...

Shop workers arresting people causes lawsuits, which are expensive to defend, so it makes little business sense (for a mom&pop shop).

If employees are threatened, call the cops. That's their job.

Arrest their ass.

They don't HAVE to shop at this establishment. Use their freedom of choice and shop at a store who is FINE with threatening people because they are carrying out safety protocol.

This is just a game to them. They are going to OWN the libtards. They are TRYING to stir shit.

Once again, we "play nice" and cave.

The store manager should have said, "FINE. You can either prove that you have not been infected, or wear the protective mask, THEN you can enter".

Customer wants to file charges? Again, FINE. Let's get all the pr that goes with that. We won't have to dox the asshole, since EVERYTHING will be in the papers.

I would imagine the store would get MORE shoppers, knowing it is a safe place to shop, and the asshole would find out that A LOT of people now KNOW they are an asshole. 'Tis the cost one pays for being an asshole.

Rule of Law is a defunct concept if we allow it to continually apply unidirectionally...

You're seeing the exact same thing with the smearing of Biden with dubious or outright fabricated sexual assault charges.
Democrats MUST stop allowing this continual loop of insanity.

to force the "culling of the herd".

Those making threats and disturbing the peace dhould be arrested without warning and criminally charged. Those threatening with guns should be disarmed, cuffed and stuffed. Their firearms should be destroyed.

I live in Fort Collins and our mask requirement (for shops) goes in to effect tomorrow. Thru NextDoor, I've encouraged people to thank our City leaders ([email protected]) for their courage. Our City is left-leaning but we are surrounded by coal rollers, yee haws, trump lovers and gun humpers (is that redundant? .

The only way I'm patronizing local merchants is if they require masks.

That's what you would do under any other circumstances. You can't just threaten people like this.

I would think, hiring a guard/bouncer at the door would be cheaper than shutting down. Or letting the idiots infect everybody else.
