North Korea says Trump wrote Kim, offered coronavirus cooperation

Source: Reuters

Reuters) - North Korea on Saturday welcomed what it said was a letter from U.S. President Donald Trump to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, saying it was a sign of “the special and very firm personal relations” between the two leaders despite recent frictions.

A senior Trump administration official confirmed Trump sent the letter and said it was “consistent with his efforts to engage global leaders during the ongoing pandemic.”

The president looks forward to continued communications with Chairman Kim, the official said.

Since Trump held a third summit with Kim last June and briefly stepped into North Korea from the demilitarized zone with South Korea, no progress has been made on the U.S. president’s bid to get Pyongyang to give up its nuclear and missile programs.

But fuck America for cash. Do SOMETHING here first. After Putin can not hide the Russia numbers anymore, trump will send him a trillion dollar relief package, of out taxes. Remember, TRUMP PAYS NO TAXES. Loves giving ours away.

"If you look at North Korea, this guy - I mean, he's like a maniac, ok, and you gotta give him credit," Mr Trump said. "How many young guys - he was like 26 or 25 when his father died - take over these tough generals? You know, it's pretty amazing when you think about it. How does he do that?"

"He goes in, he takes over and he's the boss. It's incredible. He wiped out the uncle, he wiped out this one, that one - I mean, this guy doesn't play games. and we can't play games with him. Because he really does have missiles and he really does have nukes."

15. Is that why Trump had the federal government outbid states for vital masks and protective gear?

So he coukd offer it to Kim? I would not out it past him. If states are supposed to buy their own supplies, why did the federal government outbid them and prevent them from buying? What are they doing with those masks and protective gear (other than giving them to ICE)?

While I agree with many that Trump is only doing this to try to get make some legacy of him opening up North Korea, and that he lacks the competence to get it done. I do feel like this is the how we should deal with North Korea. If we had a democratic president right now who was taking steps to try to thaw relations with NK, then republicans would stupidly be against it similarly to how the attacked what Obama was doing in cuba. But now that Trump has done this and most republicans are cheering it on, that gives a democratic president a way in because he can just say he/she is stepping in where Trump failed (or to catch more flies, leave the failure part out and say picking up where Trump left off)

From a big picture view, I can see some silver lining with Trump's North Korean efforts.
