Mexico holds big music festival despite coronavirus concerns

Source: Associated Press

MEXICO CITY (AP) ó While the coronavirus pandemic has led authorities around the globe to cancel concerts and sporting events, and even shut down daily activities in some places, Mexico City is going ahead with Vive Latino ó one of the most important music festivals in the country.

Some acts backed out, but tens of thousands of music fans flocked on Saturday to the first day of the festival, which still expected Guns Ní Roses, Carlos Vives and Zoe to be among its headliners. Organizers said more than 70,000 tickets had been sold for each of the festivalís two days.

1. Stupid, stupid stupid move!!!

They need to read about the Phila population dropping dead after an outdoor "Liberty Parade" for WWI during the Spanish Flu in 1918.

I noticed in the OP article that one young woman suggested the music festival continuing was safe because Mexicans are very good at self-hygiene. As if the Italians are not! This festival, imho, will go down in infamy as a vector for the virus.

On top of that, if the virus now goes crazy in Mexico, Trump can proclaim his wall a success.

7. Don't want to excuse one act of idiocy because there are other idiots out there.

It's like saying the St. Patrick's Day marches shouldn't be singled out in US cities because of Mexico.
