Pope sick a 2nd day with apparent cold, cancels audiences

Source: ABC

Pope Francis canceled his official audiences Friday after apparently coming down with a cold.

The Vatican hasn't said what exactly Francis has come down with, but he was coughing and blowing his nose during Ash Wednesday Mass this week.

On Thursday, he canceled a planned trip across town to celebrate Mass with Rome priests.

His illness comes amid an outbreak of the coronavirus in Italy that has sickened more than 650 people, almost all of them in the north. Rome had three cases, but all three recovered.

1. Hope it's not the virus. Get well, Pope Francis.

He's no spring chicken.

4. Yes, he lost a lung at the age of 21 due to pneumonia.

Almost died that time.

He can't mess around with stuff like that.

5. He's a good Pope, meets with all sorts of people

and doesn't turn people away if they're sick or whatever so it's high risk.

I hope it's just the common cold.

6. Good people sometimes do bad things.

It's not good to meet with all sorts of sick people during an epidemic, kiss them, shake their hands. It's crazy to do that while he himself was coughing, blowing his nose, clearly sick - while praying for the victims - and then going out to the crowds and touching everyone.

I just can't figure out a way to excuse that.

8. Don't Catholics believe

the Holy Spirit grants them powers to heal the sick? If so, avoiding the sick would be against their dogma.

14. Oh, dear God, NOT the Holy Father.

Please, God, please do not take Pope Francis from us.

NOT NOW.
