Christian Persecution in India "Very Troubling" Franklin Graham Says, But Backs Trump Friendship

Source: Newsweek

Christian support organizations have expressed unease at President Donald Trump's warm reception for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, given that the latter has overseen a surge in anti-Christian violence since coming into office in 2014.

But prominent evangelical leader Franklin Graham—a close confidant of Trump and the son of the late preacher Billy Graham—has argued that the president must befriend Modi to encourage improved conditions for the country's 65 million Christians, recommending that in the meantime devotees pray for Modi to change his ways.

Sorry, Indian Christians, it doesn't look like Franklin is going to acknowledge your existence any more. I guess you won't be getting thousands of boxes full of dollar store junk this Christmas.

1. Europeans colonized India and imported their

hate faith to India to control both the people and their resources. Now some folks in India want to use their PERSONAL faith to control the people and the country's economic resources.

When will people learn?

5. Christianity got to India long before it got to Europe

But correct the Europeans used various alliances and differences to divide people to make them easier to conquer. As in, your neighbors want to kill you so join us for "protection" with heavy taxation and strings attached.

6. I think that is a one sided perspective

Christianity is often of great value to Dalits who have less than human status within Hinduism. For them, conversion to Christianity has often been a liberative thing.

Also, Christianity is a very large religion - it reflects both the good and the bad in human nature. American white evangelicals with their hateful version do not get to define what Christianity means for people everywhere - including people in India. And the hateful ones here are Hindu (not all Hindus - just those following Modi's playbook).

9. Christianity is a money maker and a weapon like all religions.

The sacred books our religions are based on are truly wonderful. My husband and I spend the year reading through the entire Bible. The problem is most people do not read the sacred texts on which their religion is based. They read books about their sacred books. To me, this explains the human disunity, the greed, the worship of inanimate objects, and the depravity and cruelty toward our fellow human beings.

3. Graham had a "grand tour"

planned, with about 6 stops in cities across the UK. One by one the cities cancelled because of his hate filled homophobic rhetoric. Finally, every single city cancelled, and poor Franklin was furious. Guess he will not be getting a new private jet this year, then eh?

4. That anyone cares what Franklin Graham has to say about anything is "very troubling."

I find the pronouncements of the second assistant to the vice-president of Paraguay to be of greater import.

8. Guessing Graham is just trying to muddy the waters for the low info RWNJ's

This way they hear of religious strife in India (ttbomk, mostly Hindus attacking Muslims) and reports of deaths and think 'Christians Are Being Persecuted!' cause they don't know the details cause they watch Faux and listen to Limpballs for nooz.

This is also a particularly abhorrent time to be publicly whinging about Xtian Persecution in India ... when mosques are on fire.

But then ... it's Franklin Graham.

10. That is because they know trump is not a Christian

Who ever got the idea that trump cares for religion or God, or anything else? Why would they think trump would try to do well for anyone in particular, like Christians, for example?
