Will your vote count? Veil of secrecy makes it impossible for Florida voters to know

Source: USAToday.com

Florida’s March 17 presidential primary will be a referendum on state and county elections officials’ efforts to build a wall to stop hacking attempts that are constantly bombarding the system.

At a time when 59 percent of the public doesn't trust the election process, state elections officials have thrown a veil of secrecy over that work, refusing to disclose details about the weaknesses detected in their systems and whether they’ve been fixed.

Florida has doubled down on secrecy since federal officials reported at least four counties were hacked in 2016. The state forced all 67 elections supervisors to sign nondisclosure agreements before they could receive federal funding for elections security, be briefed about vulnerabilities found by cybersecurity experts or even hook up to the state’s voter registration system.

“It just felt coerced,” said Polk County Supervisor of Elections Lori Edwards, a former member of the Legislature. “We have a broad public records law for a reason, so having to sign a nondisclosure agreement didn’t sit well with me … not only to receive funds, but information too.”

The fix is in, in Florida. You can bank on it.

The only way to win there is by overwhelming the polls.

They cannot win without it. And things are going to get very ugly.

3. Looks less like a referendum, more like a beta test of rigging possibilities in FL election system.

Who will come in to audit their "process" and give them feedback that ensures a free, fair general election. Neither Floridians nor the nation are told that.

There's no validity or reliability to an election process without knowing the credentials of who's running it. We do know that NDA's are the tools of corporate interests in a nation of men, not of laws.

This should be taken to the FL Supreme Court, and soon.

4. All the SHIT hides behind SECRECY.

Sorry, but for VOTING, NO ONE should have the right to privacy. Period.

If you are ashamed of the way you are voting, maybe you shouldn't be voting that way.

If someone is going to harass you, punish you because of how you vote, put on your big boy/girl pants/panties and do what is RIGHT. You never know, after you take their ass to court you may never have to work another day in your life, living off of the settlement from the one who harassed and/or punished. Their will be plenty of lawyers, probably pro bono, who will leap take your case. If not, the democratic party should help.

We can't live in fear. If we do, they have won.

9. Wait... what????

No one has the right to privacy concerning who they vote for and if you expect privacy you must be ashamed of the way you're voting?

I must be missing something. The subject was the polls and those running the elections in the counties. Everyone has the right to privacy concerning their own votes. Everyone.

5. Call for UN observers.

Exit polling will show if they cheated.

6. Some organization should start a " people's vote" where you leave the voting booth and go

Outside and enter in the people’s vote ballot on a piece of paper. Then online have each group that does this count the people’s vote online in a YouTube video and compare them to results from the GOP controlled vote.

8. Bad news!

Add this to the fact that our trumpy secretary of state Laurel Lee is chief of elections , our trumpy governor is Ron DeSantis and our trumpy senators are Marco Rubio & Rick Scott - they are going to do everything in their power to try to screw us over.

10. Our county has paper ballots

that we mark. They do scan them and I assume there's a computer count, but the ballots could be manually counted if necessary. Not all counties are the same, though.
