Trump threatens federal government takeover of San Francisco: 'It's worse than a slum'

Source: raw story

Published 2 hours on February 19, 2020

President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the federal government may “step in” to take control of San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The president made the remarks at a White House event in Bakersfield, California. During the event, Trump responded to someone who said he wanted to “get rid” of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“Get rid of Pelosi! That’s okay with me!” Trump exclaimed. “Lot of people agree. Look what’s happened to San Francisco. So sad what’s happened, when you see a slum, where it’s a slum. It’s worse than a slum. There’s no slum like that.”

“It’s something that we’re going to do something about,” he added. “Because if they don’t fix it up, clean it up, take care of the homeless, do what they have to do but clean up their city, the federal government is going to have to step in. And we’re going to do it in Los Angeles and San Francisco.”.............................................

Then they complain about how expensive the city is and how they can only afford to live in the boonies. They could be living in complete shitholes, but they're not dumps as long as they're overwhelmingly white.

From Highway I5 after winding through and below hills and exiting to downtown, you go down towards the waterfront. When headed over to the Space Needle and up the hills (including near Queen Anne and where there have been hill slides taking homes in past) you have Magnolia neighborhood where you wind up along a hill drive and have spectacular views of the cascade mountain range on one of the few clear days.

Then when you head East to Madison Park and head up and over the hills, you will even be reminded of San Francisco.

By the way - San Francisco is not built on the side of a Cliff....

Plus Republicans are inflamed that Democrats in California have a super majority, and actually took over Orange County, California which has been a Republican strong-hold since the Reagan years (or maybe before). And California's economy is doing very well, and they want to claim some credit, so Trump coming in "to save the day" is an attempt to save face.

Führer city

A Führer city, or Führerstadt in German, was a status given to five German cities in 1937 by Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Nazi Germany.[1] The status was based on Hitler's vision of undertaking gigantic urban transformation projects in these cities based on his own conceptions as executed by German architects including Albert Speer, Paul Ludwig Troost, German Bestelmeyer, Konstanty Gutschow, Hermann Giesler, Leonhard Gall and Paul Otto August Baumgarten. More modest reconstruction projects were to take place in thirty-five other cities, although some sources assert this number was as high as fifty.[1] These plans were however not realised for the greater part because of the onset of the Second World War, although construction continued to take place even in wartime circumstances at Hitler's insistence.[2]

but I have to respectfully disagree with you regarding the ability of the Constitution to restrain him. The erosion of the rule of law, already on life support, has dramatically accelerated over the past year. Il Douche and his henchmen have exposed dramatic weaknesses in our systems of government especially those regarding the separation of powers and the application of justice. He believes that he can now operate with total impunity because he has, with McTurtle's assistance, gained almost absolute control of the federal justice system. They have a plan in place for eliminating any and all opposition and are executing it.

Raise your hand if you believe that Trump won't be trying his best to find and exploit new scapegoats, i.e., groups of people who are vulnerable, weak, and easily exploited.

We are getting classic dictator action here. Racism is the f word here, but we are going there under the Dirigible of Doom and Orange Emperor of Deplorables.

Well, Susan, do you think he has learned his lesson?

Newsome has to respond to this, if only to laugh at him. Meanwhile, a little Governor's meeting should take place, to see what neighboring state governors think.

I'm so sick of this parasite and his minions. He hates Cali, but we despise and loathe him.

Watch out what you wish for, Orange Man. WE ARE STILL VOTING YOU OUT.

they should be ready to take over the governments of AL, MS, FL, SC, KY, GA, MO, AR and TX, root out all the CSA sympathizers, klansman, racists and xenophobes and put them on a ship never to return.

They aren't ghettos but Trump wants them to be ghettos for liberals.

And I like how he keeps attacking cities - much like his phobic supporters on Facebook - when many if not most low-income people are in fact being priced out and have to move to inner ring suburbs.

Like, Facebook is full of Trump supporters who live near cities but who won't set foot in them because of exaggerated fears about urban crime...then they complain that the city is too expensive and the taxes are too high and that they can't afford to live there.

Morons who cannot process logic at all.

Not that you'll ever show your disgusting mug in the Bay Area, coward that you are.

Interesting that Mr. plast-my-name-on-cheesy-bedbug-properties has no representation in SF, one of the most hospitality-oriented cities in the US. Some minority investment by his clan of grifters, but you don't see his name anywhere.

Oh, my bad. I said "hospitality", a term completely unknown to the Orange Turd.

Red meat for his base -- homelessness everywhere! Feces! Garbage!

This is not to say that SF doesn't have these problems, but it is nowhere near as bad as trump and the morons at Faux News make it out to be. Despite its problems, SF remains one of the most vibrant, beautiful and culturally-enriching cities in the country.
