The President of the United States shared a photo of a man’s body draped over a metal fence on Monday morning. The image is apparently that of an anti-government protester killed in Iran.

Metro has chosen to pixelate the image, which is too disturbing to share uncensored as President Trump did.

The original tweet which Trump shared said:

I’m just saying I understand the mindset. And in other circumstances, I might agree with the argument. I wouldn’t shy away from sending something like that to Pelosi. She’s not a delicate flower. She’s a person with a lot of power. And the message is that “this person who’s killing you’re up in arms about was a terrible human, and has killed a lot of people. Too bad HIS victims (in this case, people protesting for freedom against an authoritarian theocratic regime) didn’t have you looking out for them.”
Just like if someone was angry about the execution of Timothy McVeigh. You show them the ruins of the federal building he bombed. You show them the picture of the firefighter holding the baby that died. You try to shame them into joining your side.
It is, at its heart, a manipulative and dishonest argument. A straw man attack. But it’s effective.
