IRS Whistleblower Cites Pressure on Trump Audit

Source: NYTimes via Yahoo News

WASHINGTON ó Senate Finance Committee staff members met this month with an Internal Revenue Service whistleblower who has alleged that senior Treasury Department officials tried to exert influence over the mandatory audit of President Donald Trumpís tax returns, a congressional aide said Monday.

The whistleblower contacted the staff of the House Ways and Means Committee over the summer and accused political appointees in the Treasury Department of improperly involving themselves in the audit and putting pressure of some kind on senior officials in the IRS.

The Ways and Means Committee has been reviewing the allegations, which were included in a complaint, and in early November the staffs of Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, the Republican chairman of the Finance Committee, and Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon, the panelís top Democrat, interviewed the IRS employee.

The details of the allegations remain unclear, though a person familiar with the complaint has said that it did not directly implicate Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin in the political meddling.

8. Ah, I didn't see the 'chicago' blurb or didn't pay enough attention to it, when I first read it...

Wow...look at all of the mixing together of all of these trends and all pretty leading in one direction...mafia and or Russians (or both) and the fancy methods (actually, kind of complicated and kudos to them figuring out a way to hide all of this, I guess when you have the amount of dirty money involved as these crooks do, you can have a bunch of highly paid accountants/CPAs running your books for you).

No wonder that the powers that be cut the IRS' budget to have people who do forensics accounting, etc. so we can put this crooks in jail. Nothing as far as I can tell ever came out of the Panama Papers exposures, other than a Country or two did use some of the stuff to go after some people.

Thanks again for the refresher course. Man, I hope Congress really, really beefs up the financial arm of the FBI, etc. to catch crooks like this.

10. Awaiting "You can't see his tax returns, it would make his base sad!"

That's the level of obvious BS we are at?
