Californians can register to vote on election day at any polling place under new law

Californians will be able to register to vote on election day at local polling places and voting centers under legislation signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday, a potentially significant step toward boosting turnout in key contests next year.

Minnesota holds first place for best voter turn-out in the country, and they have same day voter registration.

2. That really helped me here in DC

I of course registered when I got my driver's license upon moving to DC. They seemed to have lost it somehow and I didn't show up as registered when I went to my local polling place for the Democratic primary. Thankfully DC is a blue district with same day registration, so I showed my DC driver's license, registered, and voted.

5. Newsom has been busy since taking office.

Rent increases have been frozen to help homeless people today. Good for him!
