Johnson humiliated by Luxembourg PM at 'empty chair' press conference

Source: The Guardian

Boris Johnson was left humiliated and his claims of progress in the Brexit negotiations in tatters after a chaotic visit to Luxembourg ended in the prime minister being mocked by a fellow European leader for cancelling a press appearance to avoid protesters.

Johnson was booed and jeered as he left a working lunch with the European commission president, Jean-Claude Juncker, before opting out of plans to speak alongside Luxembourg’s prime minister, Xavier Bettel, after being targeted by a larger crowd.

The cancellation left Johnson scuttling past the waiting lecterns in a courtyard outside the prime minister’s office to chants of “bollocks to Brexit” and “bog off Boris” by protesters a few metres away.

As the chaotic scenes were played out, the European commission issued a statement disclosing that Juncker had told the prime minister that it was his responsibility to come forward with legally operational solutions and that “such proposals have not yet been made”, in contradiction of the government’s recent claims.

2. Johnson still has a column in the Telegraph, and even they are taking the piss

He's had a regular column in the Daily Telegraph for, I think, over a year, and he wrote another today. This was the reaction of the Telegraph's reporter (Johnson said that Britain was like The Hulk - always able to break free when chained up):

"My favourite episode of The Incredible Hulk is the one where a small group of people shouted too loudly so he ran away"

3. Good on PM Bettel

Not a laughing matter, but that pointing at the empty podium in rhythm was well done. Multiple times.

“It’s on (point point) Mr Johnson...”

I have to admit that was the classiest press conference of Boris’s career.

5. BoJo's job is to make no-deal Brexit happen

He knows it, UKIP knows it, at least half of the Torries know it. So now that BoJo failed in his Parliament shit-show, he's off to the EU to follow the letter of the law and screw it up. This incompet and clownish behavior is intentional. Comes naturally to BoJo, yes, but everything he's doing, every reason he's where he is now, is intentional.

No-Deal Brexit will happen, BoJo and his masters will burn everything down they can to make it happen. The more that burns the more they profit. BoJo's reputation and standing is just another thing to burn, one that BoJo himself is happy to incinerate, so long as the checks cash at the bank.

6. "Even IKEA has better cabinets"

From a photo in the article, that was a sign a protester was holding. It gave me a good laugh.
