1. 1/2 "womp womp" 1/2 "meh, he was totes awful, but he was already ousted, so what does this change?"

I'm not an Imma-dance-on-his-grave type, but the world is generally better without awful people in it, so...

The world would (probably, caveat: anti-historical fiction what-ifs) be better without him, so... bye bye, asshole!

2. Started out as a liberator and turned into a ruthless cruel and greedy dictator

His poor country! People suffered terribly under him when they had already suffered so under
white rule.

3. He could have been the father of his country. Instead he was the tyrant and kleptocrat that ran it

into the ground. As for his passing, meh.

5. Some brutes, like Hitler and Mussolini, burn out quickly.

Other brutes, like Pol Pot and Stalin, fade away at an old age, without any consequence for their action.

Mugabe was one of the latter.

and hoping for such great things for the people of Zimbabwe. Alas, he was nothing but another tinpot dictator. Good riddance.

8. I'd forgotten about his homophobia as well

Source-https://www.advocate.com/world/2019/9/06/detestable-homophobe-robert-mugabe-has-died

Snip-Snip-The Advocate in 2016 recognized Mugabe as one of “The Biggest Homophobes of the Last 50 Years.” The faux honorific noted Mugabe’s bigoted rhetoric, such as his declaration gays are “worse than dogs.” The magazine also noted his promise to deny foreign aid and let his own people die during a devastating drought should there be any demand for advancement on marriage equality.

As he faced growing pressure to stop the oppression of LGBTQ people in Zimbabwe, where homosexuality remains illegal, Mugabe denounced Western “gay filth.”

9. Good -- he was a murderer who destroyed his country

He could have been a visionary and a true Founding Father after the change from Rhodesia, but instead he was corrupt and cruel.
