1. Charleston's Post & Courier is providing free content during the storm..

Post & Courier
Charleston, S.C.

Link: https://www.postandcourier.com/

Statement:
As Dorian threatens our state weíve made all of our hurricane content available without a subscription as a public service.

News:
Dorian remained a large storm, about the size of South Carolina. Hurricane winds whirled as far as 60 miles out from the center of the storm, and tropical storm force winds had expanded to 195 miles out.

It was predicted to still have those winds by the time it reaches Charleston mid-day Thursday but could weaken then. Hurricane force winds were expected to start reaching the coast before sunrise, said the National Weather Service office in Charleston.

I fear the entire Grand Strand will get a very bad beating. This was my stomping grounds for a while in the late 70s and the low country where poverty is high will see horrific flooding with many poor people unable to move away....

2. Didn't Trump just drain the money for federal disaster relief to try and build his phallic wall?

If so then I hope the people of Charleston are not looking to the federal government for aid.

3. I believe he did a couple of weeks ago, probably thinking it as a way to block funds to Puerto Rico.

4. Lindsey will be in the Oval Office on his knees...

and help will be found. It always seems to happen in red states for high-income areas by some form of right-wing voodoo.....

Those with no voice will get little help and suffer the most......

We wish the people all up and down the east coast the best of luck.......

8. I always spend New Year's there

It has sort of become a tradition with our family. I hope the city recovers to the point where it can safely receive visitors by then.

11. As of this AM...

Biggest problem is trees on the roads and power lines. Most businesses are open, major roads are fine, we don't have power, but expect it to be back on shortly. National guard who were patrolling out little island south of Charleston have gone.

We dodged a bullet, as when the storm hit, we were at low tide, thus no storm surge, surge that greatly concerned us. Power companies expect to have most outages repaired by tomorrow night @ 11:00 PM.

12. That is a relief

A surge at high tide would have turned East Bay into "Extended Bay."

13. On the other hand

We will have to deal with another storm, aptly named "stupid". Our esteemed gov, Henry McMaster has dragged his ignorant ass from his restricted country club and will be visiting our area this afternoon...there should be a law restricting any elected official from commenting on any sort of climatic or man made crisis. Leave press conferences to the professionals, people who know WTF they are talking about.
