Bynum signs executive order adding gender identity, expression to [Tulsa]'s nondiscrimination policy

Source: Tulsa World

Mayor G.T. Bynum on Monday signed an executive order extending the city of Tulsa’s nondiscrimination policy to protect more of the LGBTQ community.

The order adds the words “gender identity” and “gender expression” to the city’s existing policy, which already protected city employees based on race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, national origin or disability.

Oklahomans for Equality issued a statement praising Bynum and the City Council for their support for LGBTQ Tulsans.

Bynum is a Republican leading a city that last elected a Democrat for mayor in 2006, in a state that also last elected a Democrat for governor in the same year (a nationally strong year for Dems owing to the declining popularity of Bush).

1. As a Tulsa Democrat, I have no problems with this mayor

He's been really good on many issues. You could never tell he is a Republican. He is good on education too.
Also as a mother of a gay child, this makes me happy!
