Portland protests: Trump weighs in on Saturday demonstrations (live updates)
Source: The Oregonian
President Donald Trump weighed in on the demonstrations Saturday morning, amplifying right-wing activists push to have self-described anti-fascists, or antifa, designated as domestic terrorists.
"Major consideration is being given to naming ANTIFA an ORGANIZATION OF TERROR, he tweeted. Portland is being watched very closely. Hopefully the Mayor will be able to properly do his job!
The scene of the planned demonstrations, meanwhile, remained quiet Saturday morning.
Authorities have set up concrete barriers along northbound Southwest Naito Parkway and in Tom McCall Waterfront Park, where protesters are expected to assemble beginning later Saturday morning.

SO..... We have the Proud Boys, the white nationalist American Guard, the millitia group Three Percenters, and the neo-nazi Daily Stormers planning to demonstrate in Portland and tRump seems perfectly fine with them.

(12,712 posts)I am way past being amazed or amused by tRump's agenda. This is what he is fine with and always has been and would like to have much more of and may get it.
He has a lot of bloviating, distraction and hate endorsements to accomplish in the meantime. This is a great way to gradually tear a country to shreds. Divide, accentuate, accelerate and conquer.

(102,208 posts)Shit, the "Proud Boys" even have a ceremonial oath, membership rules, leaders, a lawyer who issues death threats, insist on violence, and have a "uniform":
The Proud Boys have adopted a black Fred Perry polo shirt with yellow piping as their unofficial uniform. Fred Perry was previously associated with the Mod subculture and skinhead groups, including the British National Front. Fred Perry's CEO John Flynn denounced the affiliation with the Proud Boys in a statement to CBC Radio, saying "We don't support the ideals or the group that you speak of. It is counter to our beliefs and the people we work with."
Women and transgender men are not allowed in the organization.
The Proud Boys discourages its members from masturbating and watching pornography so as to motivate them to get "off the couch" and meet women. McInnes added no masturbation to the group's core ideas after interacting with Dante Nero, a relationship expert and comedian with a podcast on Riotcast, who came to serve as a sort of "pope" for this idea within the organization.
Gavin McInnes founded the group and served as its leader. In November 2018, shortly after news broke that the FBI had classified the Proud Boys as an extremist group with ties to white nationalists a claim later disavowed by an FBI official, who said they only intended to characterize the potential threat from some members of the group McInnes said that his lawyers had advised him that quitting might help the nine members being prosecuted for the incidents in October. During the announcement he defended the group, attacked the reporting about it, said white nationalists don't exist, and at times he said things that made it appear he was not quitting, such as "this is 100% a legal gesture, and it is 100% about alleviating sentencing", and said it was a "stepping down gesture, in quotation marks".
As of November 2018, the group said its leaders were Enrique Tarrio, designated as "chairman", and the "Elder Chapter", which consists of Harry Fox, Heath Hair, Patrick William Roberts, Joshua Hall, Timothy Kelly, Luke Rofhling and Rufio Panman. Jason Lee Van Dyke, who was the organization's lawyer at the time, had been briefly named as chairman to replace Gavin McInnes when he left the group, but the organization announced on November 30 that Van Dyke was no longer associated with the group in any capacity, although his law firm still holds Proud Boys trademarks and is the registered agent for two of the group's chapters. In December 2018, arrest warrant was issued for Van Dyke over his death threat to a person he previously sued.

I mean, that's not just an organization, it's a religion. They're so totalitarian they tell their members (heh) not to wank.

(905 posts)I watched about two hours of a live camera feed that was embedded with the white nationalist neo-Nazis in Portland today (I know, why would anyone torture themselves that way, but I do paid research on these goons, so hazard of the business).
As they were milling around in the park, leadership clearly had no plan for what they were actually going to do; they didn't even have a speaker agenda. It appeared most of the followers just assumed they were there to bash some heads.
Overall, they seemed to be gobsmacked by their leaders shouting out that today needed to be different, that today they couldn't engage in violence. There was a bit of confusion as to what exactly then they were expected to do if not punch faces.
Right about that point, the crowd got all excited because they were being instructed by police to begin marching along a very defined route. "Woohoo," they cried, exclaiming how the police were on their side because they were going to be given a personal escort through the din of the much greater crowd of Portland citizens shouting, "Fascists go home!"
So, off they marched---to a sidewalk with the silent river at their left and the drone of traffic from a major highway at their right. In other words, completely isolated, no one to shout at. Trudging along, only accompanied by their own hate bros, they became decidedly more muted.
But then, wait! They were being led to a bridge that had previously been closed. Hopes began to rise. Cheering ensued.
Oooh, that Anti-fa was sure going to be mad now because the fascists were going to get to walk across a bridge---another isolated place where Portlanders didn't have to see or hear them. Oh boy, they said, that was sure going to piss people off!
So, off they trudged across the bridge of shame---only to discover at its end that they were being deposited right back where they started---away from the mass of Portland citizens who had
turned out to decry them.
The looks on the fascist leaders' faces were priceless as they tried to spin the whole thing to their followers as "Mission accomplished, guys! Let's go have a BBQ and drink some beer to celebrate! Time to party!"
Of course, the fact that these same "leaders" then proceeded to walk around in circles asking each other what the plan was for transportation out of there clearly indicated that the supposed party would also be a bust.

(1,701 posts)There were some fights; it is hard to know if those supposed Antifa protesters were really with them. They could be Black Bloc, or just infiltrators. But I wish the Proud Boys and similar groups would stop coming to Portland. We don't want them here!

(37,878 posts)which is why they decided to fool the public and media in after-demonstration skirmishes. Same tactic, different places, and some people fell for it.

(905 posts)outlets to report on any of this. Why so? Because they have zero undercover reporters embedded in white nationalist groups.
If they did, they would have known that a neo-Nazi group out of the San Diego area regularly attends rallies in Portland where they don the sickle and hammer (currently also a logo sported by a neo-Nazi Ukranian group), seek out clueless MSM reporters, and pretend to belong to Anti-fa.
So, there's that to consider...trust me, they're way ahead of you and CNN on how to perpetuate propaganda.

Proud Boys, Nazi, Neo-confederates and the rest of those right wing, fascist degenerates are trump's army. Do not be fooled. Their purpose is the squash dissent by any means necessary.
Ask yourself this question, if trump loses (and I only say "if" only because I believe trump is only in the white house because of vote altering and a populace so cowed into obedience they are willing to do close to nothing in the face of the tremendous impossibility occurring, and I believe they will be altered again. The polls weren't wrong.) do you really believe the above mentioned groups fade quietly in the night and America goes forward together united, citizens arm in arm together singing kumbaya?
As for the Antifa. Well, fuck, given the circumstances some destruction and anarchy mixed in with a little bit of the old ultra violence could only help the current situation. Regardless of your feelings and thoughts of the Antifa, don't take the right lightly.

Did any of those silly men look in a mirror before walking out in public? I dunno... maybe it's the lack of personal grooming, the pudginess, the costumes made out of recycled household trash and discounted holiday apparrel, none of which transforms these sad lonely men into the stalwart warrior that they imagine themselves to be.
Regardless of the number of bargain bin accoutrements they've put on, they still look like jobless losers without any person of significance in their lives who would even notice their absence.
