Louisiana public schools will display 'In God We Trust' beginning this school year

Source: ABC News

News headlines today: Aug. 13, 2019

Public school students in Louisiana will see the motto “In God We Trust” when they return to class this year.

A bill signed into law by Governor John Bel Edwards in May 2018 will require the state’s public schools to display the motto “in each building it uses and in each school under its jurisdiction” by the 2019-2020 school year.

The law, first introduced in March 2018 as Senate Bill 224 by Democratic State Senator Regina Ashford Barrow, said that the way the motto was displayed would be “determined by each governing authority” but needed to be at least a paper sign.

The law also included a requirement that students be educated about the U.S. flag and “patriotic customs” by fifth grade, as part of their social studies curriculum. Instruction about “In God We Trust” would be included with the patriotic customs.

Diminishing prospects for most students and a deliberately wrecked public education system, but as long as they are propagandized about the bronze age sky being, they have what they need for a good life.

While the mandatory teaching of "In God We Trust" will end up in the Supreme Court.

All the while, this new law does absolutely diddly squat.

Nothing like a little more JEEBUS if you don't choose to fund schools.

Yellow ribbons, thoughts and prayers, flag decals...way less work than addressing problems with actual solutions. Hope these dimwits feel better.

Supreme Court rejects case challenging ‘In God We Trust’ motto on nation’s currency

JUNE 11, 2019 10:43:03 AM Keegan Boyle

The US Supreme Court on Monday rejected a challenge to the motto “In God We Trust” being displayed on American currency.

The motto was called into question by Michael Newdow, who stated that the inclusion of the phrase violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. The Establishment Clause states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.”

Newdow also argued that the phrase violates the Fifth Amendment’s due process clause because it forces Atheists to utilize currency that includes a religious connotation.

The US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit dismissed Newdow’s case in 2018 because the phrase “does not compel citizens to engage in religion.” The Supreme Court’s order allows this decision to stand.

it will be upgraded to "In God Emperor Trump We Trust." Schools will be instructed to insist it has always been that way.

“It had become usual to give Napoleon the Credit for every Successful achievement and every stroke of good fortune. You would often hear one hen remark to another, “Under the guidance of our leader, Comrade Napoleon, I have laid five eggs in six days” or two cows, enjoying a drink at the pool, would exclaim, “thanks to the leadership of Comrade Napoleon, how excellent this water tastes!”...”

As unAmerican as you can get. If you want to believe in some great creature that lives on the
clouds and you can never see, touch, hear, or smell such a creature fine go ahead and do that
and that is called faith but don't force others to believe what you do and act in such a way as to
make you and your cloud guy happy.

and this is the sort of crap they spend their time and money on. You'd think they would get a clue, but then they don't need no ejukashun if they have their Jeebus.

Friend of mine moved to that state about two years ago. She's an atheist, extremely liberal and bright as all get out. She would always rail about Catholics and their brainwashing, but when she moved to Louisiana, she put her only child in a Catholic school. I was dumbfounded but then realized that she was doing what was best for her child, who is very bright like she is.

You couldn't pay me to live there.

It drives me crazy that the term “God” is such a multiculturally dominant word, yet without any commonality of meaning. I don’t see how people can meaningfully talk about god without relying on a common definition, yet it doesn’t seem to me that any two people — either within a single religious denomination or of differing religions start there.

All the while winking to his disciples that he didn't mean a word of it.

Somehow, that's become the modern Christian mindset.
