Trump Officials Want Zero Refugee Admissions Next Year: Report

The Trump administration is making plans to slash the number of refugee admissions to the U.S. to nearly zero next year, Politico reports. The plan was reportedly discussed at a meeting of security officials last week, where a Trump administration representative close to White House immigration adviser Stephen Miller suggested setting a cap at zero or close to it. The proposal has alarmed officials at the Department of Defense who think it would impact the admissions of Iraqis who risked their lives helping U.S. military forces. The Trump administration has already slashed refugee admissions—this year it was cut by a third, down to 30,000. Homeland Security officials at the meeting later suggested making the level anywhere from 3,000 to 10,000, Politico reports. “In the long term, [cutting the number of admissions to zero] would mean that the capacity and the ability of the United States to resettle refugees would be completely decimated,” said Jen Smyers, a director with Church World Service.

1. Is that even legal?

A representative close to Stephen Miller means, close to an asshole other than their own.

What makes Miller an expert on immigration other than to say--we don't want them?

4. miller is not an expert

that is his first strike.

White nationalist POS, his family has even issues with him.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/stephen-miller-keeps-his-head-down-as-trump-makes-his-nativist-dreams-come-true

snip of article:

All together, it’s been a banner few days for the restrictionist, anti-immigration worldview of Trump and his top lieutenants who have encouraged the president to take a harder line on immigration since the early days of the campaign. Over the last few days, however, one man has been largely absent from the picture, the public tumult, and the cameras.

Stephen Miller.

Over the years, the 33-year-old senior policy adviser to the president has become virtually synonymous with the draconian immigration measures of the administration. He was a driving force behind the president’s brutal family-separation policy, one of the architects of Trump’s “Muslim travel ban,” constantly agitates against legal immigration levels and refugees, and serves as the top White House speechwriter. Even before he joined Trump’s team in January 2016, he was already proving key, serving, for instance, as the principal author of the campaign’s immigration “white paper” unveiled in August 2015.

2. Trump is genius

Yeah he's dumb as a rock about most stuff but people so underestimate him and his (only) sales strategy.

He can't outsmart people so he creates chaos and plays people's emotions all for two reasons. Money and power.

Mostly just money.

And none of this stuff would be working if a ton of people weren't racist as hell. He didn't invent the racists. He just plays to them for support (to keep the cops off his ass).

5. I wouldn't call him a genius

A genius wouldn't need to go for low hanging fruit and sow division and discord. If anything it shows the only thing he knows.

9. He's dumb as a rock about most things. He's genius with this one sales strategy that he has been...

using his entire life.

By the time people catch on, like US banks, he just moves on and does it to the next group. He's a master grifter. And it's people's emotions that he plays on. He's great at that and no one should underestimate him.

8. The First Part

of your theory does ring true. I am currently shopping for a mattress, which is difficult to do in an educated way because the industry makes it impossible with its weird practice of making every mattress different and with a different name. Add that to the fact that I go into a mattress store and the salesperson won't shut up so I can think. I finally get rid of them and they pop back up in three minutes with more jibber jabber. The mattress situation is chaos and then the salesperson creates chaos so you can't make sense of the mattress chaos. Sales strategy: chaos and confusion until you just give up in frustration.

7. I Have Plan

I agree to leave, go back where some of my relatives came from, and someone who needs asylum can come in my place. I disagree with Trump, so according to him he should be all for it. The change in capacity would be zero. My most recently emigrated relatives came from Cornwall during the Cornish diaspora in the 1880s. They did well and made a middle class existence. I volunteer to go back to Cornwall if a death squad refugee can come in my place. I will have a pension and SS, so England doesn't have to worry about me being on the dole. I will also have retiree medical insurance which I would want transferred, but that would be a net gain for my government employer, as medical care there would be much cheaper than here. I think others might be interested in this plan as well.

10. I say deport all the treasonous white supremacist hate groups to make room for immigrants.

I wish that here, the Southern Poverty Law Center filed for their deportations -- they've got membership lists -- and at least fire that flare at them. SPLC has legal standing and proof of harm they've caused.
