Iran deal not dead but time running out, Jeremy Hunt says

The Iran nuclear deal is still alive but time to save it is running out, British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said Monday as EU ministers gathered to discuss the pact in Brussels.

The meeting comes after a week of intensified European diplomatic efforts, led by France, to try to convince Iran to pause its breaches of the deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and persuade the U.S. to pause further sanctions on Tehran.

So far, neither Tehran nor Washington has shown any signs of softening.

The deal "isn't dead yet ... there is still some closing but small window to keep the deal alive," Hunt told reporters as he arrived at the meeting.

1. This could easily be Trump's most consequential foreign policy fuck up.


Trump blew up the Iran deal. Now we're on a path that could too easily lead to war. Anyone remember how swimmingly our last couple of Middle East wars went?
