Lawmakers clash after Dem reads letter on House floor calling Trump supporters 'racist,' 'dumb'

Reps. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) and Larry Bucshon (R-Ind.) clashed on Tuesday after Fudge read a constituent letter on the House floor that called Trump supporters "racist" and "dumb."

"Many who support the president's administration are either racists, steeped in religious beliefs, ignorant, or as my mother used to say, just plain dumb," said the letter that Fudge read on the House Floor.

"Remarks and debate may not engage in personalities towards the president, including by repeating remarks made elsewhere that would be improper if spoken in the member’s own words,” said Rep. Marc Veasey (D-Texas) after Fudge's remarks.

Fudge then asked Veasey "What is a personality?" according to a C-SPAN video of the incident.

Honestly, I think we'd be better off if our House debates incorporated the insults and boos that the UK Parliament is known for. Too many Representative essentially speak only to the C-SPAN camera. They should be prepared to respond and defend their remarks from direct criticism.

2. Congressional Republicans are as thin skinned as Trump is.

Get used to it, Congressional Trumpers. The truth is, people are gertting fed up with this man and they are letting their voices heard.

3. IMO we're better off if we stick to attacking tRump and not his supporters

It may feel good saying what we think of tRump supporters, but it won't do us any good. The less stirred up they are the better.

6. Agreed

Remember, Hillary calling people "deplorables" was counter productive

4. The letter didn't say Trump was racist and dumb, she said that many of Trump's supporters are

So, the claim that it was engaging in "personalities towards the President" is misplaced. Unless, of course, Veasey is admitting that Trump's supporters and Trump share the same characteristics.

5. I've never seen "remarks engage in personalities towards the president." Doesn't mean it doesn't

happen or that I wouldn’t enjoy watching remarks “engage in personalities,” especially if they did so “towards the president.” I haven’t seen debates doing it either. I try not to “engage in personalities” towards anyone, but you guys here make me so mad at times that I do. Don’t take it
personality.

9. I was hoping you were going to clear it up..

I have no idea what how to engage in personalities, and then direct them towards someone. Must have missed school that day?

10. Every single Trump supporter has deep character flaws.

EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

There is absolutely no good excuse on Earth to support this turd of a human being. If you support him, you're either ignorant, hate-filled, corrupt, selfish, racist, or maybe even all of them.

I have family members who support him I'm quite sickened to say and they seem to fall into the ignorant, selfish, and racist categories.

13. I saw this yesterday on a protest sign from London

A pervert, a racist, and a fascist walk into a bar.
And the bartenders say "What will you be having, Mr. President?"

15. Good one! The one with the sign had to be one of the many thousands of fans he claims he has there.

He's so respected everywhere he goes, they storm the streets hoping to see him.

She got chastised by one of her own party members. However, it went out to America.

Silly childish bullshit looking for their YouTube moment
