A former business partner alleges the Trumps evaded taxes in Panama

Source: NYTimes

The owners of a luxury hotel in Panama City that ousted the Trump Organization as property managers last year accused it on Monday of evading taxes in Panama and creating a "false light" around the hotel's finances.

The accusations, made in a legal filing in Manhattan federal court, are fraught with potential diplomatic and legal complexities for President Trump. They essentially assert that his family business cheated a foreign government, a claim the Trump Organization characterized in a statement as "completely false."

The president's company, the filing alleges, "also made fraudulent and false claims to the Panamanian tax authorities" to "cover up its unlawful activities." This was originally detected during an audit last year by that country's tax agency, according to the filing.

It was not possible to immediately verify accusations in the filing that the Trump Organization did not fulfill its obligation as managers to ensure all the hotel's taxes were paid, including those related to the Trumps' management fees. Panamanian law imposes a tax on commissions paid to foreign businesses, but the Trumps' management fees may have qualified for an exemption.

Fintiklis and his companies are suing Trump for $35 million. Trump is suing him for $3 million, accusing him of fraud.

3. Smart People

Criminals like Trump think they are smarter than the law enforcement the people employ to catch criminals.

But he's a bully. He thinks because he can outwit the IRS or local DA in Florida the entire U.S. Government is inept.

Wrong. He's only picked games he can win, which isn't very smart. Once he is up against a Pelosi or Mueller---who know law enforcement and politics more than Trump and his clan---it's game over for the Trumps.

Only then will he finally learn he isn't the smartest man in the world, just that he chooses to surround himself with those even dumber than he. And the law of averages puts that number in the tens of millions of people.

4. Here's more from another link:

Trumpís company dodged millions of dollars in taxes on Panama hotel, lawsuit claims

President Donald Trumpís property-management company allegedly failed to pay taxes in Panama on millions of dollars in fees it collected for managing a high-rise hotel there, according to new legal filings related to a business dispute over the development.

The filings, made Monday by the hotelís majority owner, allege that over seven years Trump employees sent money to Trumpís personal bank accounts in the U.S. without paying Panamanian taxes, exposing the propertyís owners to millions of dollars in potential liability.

A Trump subsidiary called Trump Panama Hotel Management LLC ďalso made fraudulent and false claims to the Panamanian tax authorities,Ē and underreported its payrolls to the local social security authorities, according to the amended civil complaint, filed in the Southern District of New York.
