House speaker says Rep. McLeod should resign if domestic violence allegations are true

By WLOX Staff | May 20, 2019 at 8:54 PM CDT - Updated May 21 at 8:20 PM

GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - We’re learning new details about a Mississippi state representative’s Saturday arrest on domestic violence, simple assault charges.

Republican House speaker Philip Gunn is calling on the resignation of state representative Doug McLeod if the alleged domestic violence incident is true.

According to the incident report, George County Sheriff’s deputies said McLeod was very drunk when they arrived at his home. They were answering a call for help that came from inside the house.

The report states another woman in the house told deputies McLeod punched his wife while inside their bedroom. Deputies reported seeing blood on the victim’s face and in the couple’s bedroom. The witness shared other personal details with deputies that we’re choosing not to report.

7. Exactly What The 50-State Strategy Addresses

When Howard Dean first introduced the 50-State Strategy early in his DNC chairmanship, he called out these races in which Democrats don't even field a candidate. He emphasized that writing off races is a big mistake because it allows the righties to direct resources into an offensive plan in races Democrats should win.

The 50-State Strategy means competing in every race, from school board upward. Putting the thugs on defense is a key stratagem.
