Going out of business: Ascena Retail Group closing all of its nearly 650 Dressbarn stores

Source: USA Today

Coresight Research tracked the 5,864 closings in 2018, which included all Toys R Us stores and hundreds of Kmart and Sears locations. The record year for closings was 2017 with 8,139 shuttered stores.

All Dressbarn stores are open along with the website, the statement said. There are no current changes to Dressbarn's return, refund, or gift card policies.

“During the wind-down process, we will continue to provide our customers with the same great experience both in-store and online, offering them even better deals and value,” Taylor said. “We will work to assist our associates through the transition and maintain existing relationships with our vendors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders through this process."

According to the statement, plans for closing individual stores and information about store closing sales “will be shared during the wind-down process.”

3. The other day I was shocked to see my local JC Penney and a craft store Beverly's closing.

Both are in malls that are well trafficked and not in poor areas.

Fat Donnie’s economy sucks.

10. Goodwill is still open

I don’t know about you, but I get all my pants at thrift stores. When you work in a printing plant your pants will be covered with ink a few weeks after you get them...so why not get cheap ones?

7. This slide began during the Reagan era

People can't buy stuff when they don't have money or jobs. Meanwhile the ultra-wealthy one-percenters have more money than they can possibly spend in a lifetime. But they don't shop at JC Penney's, K-Mart or Dress Barn.

Thanks Repukes!

11. Trump's plan will be to retrain the workers for coal mining and steel making jobs

There are millions of retail workers in America but no policy to help them adapt to the changing economy.
