Arnold Schwarzenegger drop-kicked at South Africa event

Source: BBC

The 71-year-old former California governor was interacting with fans during a skipping competition at his Arnold Classic Africa sporting event when a man drop-kicked him from behind.

The attacker is seen being restrained following the incident.

Schwarzenegger thanked fans on Twitter for their concern, but insisted there was "nothing to worry about".

The video footage, shared widely on social media, shows Schwarzenegger posing for photos and filming at the Johannesburg event on Saturday when the man attacks him with a flying kick.

3. Not much of a Arnold fan but .....

that was horrible. It could have caused serious damage. Seems the whole world is getting out of hand.

5. Glad he's ok.

Whatever could be said against him, this was way out of bounds.

Besides which, he was a very decent governor for a Republican.

The fact that the Shrub used to go out of his way to avoid him whenever he came around to Brentwood to fundraise, is but one indication of that.

9. He has been THE MOST vocal and visible opponent of gerrymandering.

It's rare to see any political types talking about it, least of all Republicans.

And he has absolutely no love for Trump. And why would he? Arnold is an immigrant who, unlike Trump, is truly a self-made millionaire.

10. I'm surprised he's still in the GOPee frankly

When I lived in L.A. at the time, I remember people, who knew certain people, saying that he had skeletons in his closet, and that Bush and his thugs were using that against him to keep him in line.

Who knows - and frankly who cares!

It's all now part of the Arnie legend, if you will.

You take the good with the bad.

I'm not a fan of his politics, or him for that matter. But that was uncalled for and undeserved.

7. My dad is 71 and in pretty good shape

But he wouldn't have been able to get up from a kick like that. (As for that matter the assailant probably wouldn't either after my family got through with him).

15. Lucky The Terminator didn't tear his leg off and beat him over the head with it.

Seriously, this isn't how we act. If he has a problem, face him with it. Don't run up from behind and assault him. Go to jail where you belong, asshole.

Considering that was at the Arnold Classic he is lucky those body builders didn't kill him.

He jumped up and kicked his target with both feet and dropped to the ground. Thatís the definition of a drop kick.

28. There's another kind of drop kick in football

in which you bounce the ball off the ground and kick it.

Hence the confusion.

25. Yes it was.

No clue why you think it was not. Almost every news outlet and site is calling it a drop kick. Maybe they could have added flying, but that is pretty much implied.

Anybody else kicked like that would likely end up on the floor.
