Jeremy Corbyn 'ready to stand down' because he is 'tired and fed up'

Source: Metro (London)

Jeremy Corbyn is reportedly ‘ready to step down’ as leader of the Labour Party, it has been claimed.

Sources said last night that Mr Corbyn is becoming ‘tired and fed up’ in the role, and is looking to leave as he nears his 70th birthday in May.

Speaking to The Standard, one member of the shadow cabinet said that those closest to the leader are of the view he would like to hand over his socialist project.

The source said: ‘He’s tired and fed up.’

But this one most of all. The man just wants to be PM too badly, and thinks he's still got an opportunity.

Corbyn has been under attack since the day he was elected leader. So much so, that Labour MPs who prefer a Blairite philosophy, called for a revote/ They tried to keep him off the ballot, they denied votes to Labour Party members, they expelled Labour Party members and in Pro-Corby ridings, many local labour party organizations were suspended by Blairite MPs, to avoid support for Corbyn growing.

He won the second vote by an even bigger margin. As is standard, the media then pulled out their usual playbook of how to deal with Labour Party leaders - first they are called scruffy, then unpatriotic, then they are declared a danger, since having a pacifist leader would endanger the country - later, should that fail, they will be accused of supporting terrorism.

The only Labour leader ever "allowed" to come to power was Tony Blair - he cosied up to Rupert Murdoch and was anointed. Margaret Thatcher, when asked what her greatest achievement was answered "Tony Blair".

Recently, having exhausted every other attempt to topple Corbyn have resorted to calling him and antisemite. This is utterly ridiculous and no MP in Parliament has a better track record of opposing and fighting racism than he does.

Im shocked by the comments here, I thought DU readers were a bit more intelligent and prone to looking at facts, rather than swallowing the bullshit that is presented in the UK media, which is almost entirely right wing, or to follow the inner party squabbles where the right wing - "tory-lite" - members of the party - a remnant of Blair, spread such appalling lies about him. - During one early flurry of lies, Blairites were claming to have had bricks thrown through office windows etc. - all proven untrue and immediately pointed out by police, although the press ran with it anyway.

Many of the MPs accusing Corbyn of being racist weren't even born when he was marching in Cable Street to defend Jews from fascists. Many of them were children when Corbyn was arrested for protesting against Apartheid - while the rest of Parliament were classing Mandela as a terrorist. But most of them should be old enough to remember Corbyn speaking out and voting against Blairs lies, which took the country into Iraq.

Most of you should recognize some of the lies told about Corbyn - they were told about Obama, they were told about Bernie Sanders - though not with the coordination that the UK press and Establishment do these things. Please go and get some facts, before you jump on this nonsensical propaganda against him - and do not read shitty right wing papers like the Evening Standard - one of the many newspapers that anyone with even vaguely liberal sensibilities would not consider touching.

There are major flaws in the Blair transformation of Labour into a neo-liberal "conservative light" party.

Ignoring its working class roots and pushing policies which benefit urban financiers at the expense of the working class has hollowed out Labour's support.

I can't believe how powerful RW fake news works even on folks in here. I too am shocked at the responses in here. People, please stop just regurgitating RW hate because you heard it "somewhere" that Corbyn's leadership is flawed somehow. The only "flaw" is that he is trying to take the party back to its labour roots, and away from the Blair neo-liberal corporatist party it had become. Evident by the recent resignations of the Blair loyalists.

Conservatives and neo-liberal elites are deathly afraid of what Corbyn could do as PM. The Big Lie works. Just keep repeating lies about him and his party. Make mountains out of any mole hill you find.

Corbyn dared to criticize Israel in relation to Palestine. Dared to criticize Netanyahu's government. Does that sound familiar? coughOmarcough. Get too critical against the RW Israeli government and you are ANTI-SEMITE!!! Off with his head!

Who will label Corbyn antisemitic as a way of protecting Israel, there are are many more who may object to israels behaviour, but are still using it as a way to attack him. Those who believe in him and look to him to lead are by the very nature of his policies, likely to be extremely intolerant of racism - therefore to paint him as a racist is (they believe) a way to lose him followers.

The fact is that he is massively popular, but his leadership would threaten the wealthy and the powerful. And they will do everything they can to stop him. The powers that be know that the people have had enough of austerity, privatization and the stripping of rights. There is nothing that frightens them more than a soccer stadium, a music festival or a street protest where the crowd is chanting "oh Jeremy Corbyn" whether he is present or not. - look at footage of the children's strike last week - it was about climate change and the kids were chanting for Corbyn.

I would suggest everybody watch "a very British coup' - an excellent political thriller, made in the days of Thatcher - it was written by a Labour MP

And those of you believing that he is tired, remember how Fox News were telling usnHilarynwas suffering everything from strokes to Parkinson's as the election neared

England's establishment is terrified of an anti-imperialist socialist derailing their centuries-old gravy train.

I say bring it on. Stay the course, JC.
