No charges for Texas deputies who unwittingly killed boy

SCHERTZ, Texas (AP) — Four Texas sheriff's deputies won't face charges for opening fire on a suspected car thief, killing her and a 6-year-old who they didn't know was nearby, a grand jury decided this week.

A Bexar County grand jury declined to indict the deputies more than a year after they shot at Amanda Jones, 30, on the porch of a mobile home in the San Antonio suburb of Schertz. The deputies were pursuing Jones for car theft and other offenses on Dec. 21, 2017, when she forced her way onto the trailer and threatened to shoot them, said Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.

The deputies didn't know that the 1st-grader, Kameron Prescott, was inside the trailer after starting his winter break just hours before the shooting, Salazar said.

. . .

Kameron's family had been outspoken after the shooting. His great-aunt, Debra Jimenez, criticized the deputies for opening fire when so many people were nearby and called for new training.

Ooooh, she 'threatened to shoot' them? Did they ever SEE A GUN? My guess is NO. Probably have no actual proof she did so either.

Cops think they can just blow people away regardless of collateral damage just because they 'felt threatened' and/or the person they're shooting at is a 'suspect'.

It's fucking bullshit and it needs to STOP.

Their lives are no more valuable than the lives of ANY other human beings, unless that person is a direct and obvious/demonstrable threat to their safety, but they damn sure seem to THINK they are.

They're becoming a bunch of thugs, running around in their military gear, protected by the courts at seemingly every turn.

5. Yep. They seem to overstep then circle the wagons to protect each other.

Some cops working for money and benefits using the department to protect themselves rather than the public. Needed temperament seems to have been replaced with arrogance . Not all, but yea..
