N.J. legal weed deal: Everything to know about timeline, details and next steps

Source: NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

"Gov. Phil Murphy and top state lawmakers formally announced Tuesday morning they struck a deal on a bill that would legalize recreational marijuana in New Jersey after closing the gap on one of the final issues that had been separating them.

The announcement sheds new light on what's expected in the legal weed bill, which should be revealed in the coming days. NJ Advance Media first reported the agreement late Monday night.

Murphy said in a statement the accord he reached with his fellow Democrats who lead the state Legislature state Senate President Stephen Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin comes after months of "hard work and thoughtful negotiations."

"I believe that this legislation will establish an industry that brings fairness and economic opportunity to all of our communities, while promoting public safety by ensuring a safe product and allowing law enforcement to focus their resources on serious crimes," the governor said.

Now comes the busy and uncertain part. The deal sets up a fascinating 13-day stretch in which Murphy and lawmakers will try to whip enough votes in the Legislature for legal pot to pass on March 25."

Well, it looks like New Jersey Democrats have finally reached a deal and are ready to put legalization to a vote.

The article gets into some interesting detail. Take a few minutes to read it to get a sense of what kind of bullshit legalization is facing in this brainwashed patent drug culture we're living in.

LEGALIZE IT!

I'm going to smoke a bowl now. I need to chillax.

1. It's too bad that New York's efforts have nearly derailed...

Cuomo stating on Sunday that it may not make it to the budget bill by April 1.

Kudos to our New Jersey Democrats and citizen population...

4. There is a provision in the bill

Supposedly to share tax revenue with municipalities that allow sales, cultivation, distribution businesses, etc. I'm for legalization and always have been since the 60s. I can't believe it's taken this long but the brainwashing was, apparently, remarkably effective.

All the towns passing these ridiculous no pot bills should be frozen out of revenue sharing and if they wake up some day and want in they should have to pay a hefty penalty.

6. If NJ passes this,

I'll bet it helps kickstart the legalization process over here in Pennsylvania. Medical marijuana was easily approved a couple years ago. When our legislature sees the $s NJ is raking in, they'll want to keep that money "at home" just like they did with casinos.
